I just read another posting where the OP said he bought something using PayPal and sent the money as either a GIFT or FREINDS or FAMILY. And, of course, the product was NOT sent. The OP is screwed. PLEASE READ THIS! Unless you know and trust the person you are buying from, do NOT use GIFT or FREINDS or FAMILY when sending a PayPal payment. In the last few months, there have been several such posts. When will we learn.

I've done it some with people I know and trust, but that's not the point. It's really dishonest. I know, F Paypal. But still, it's not telling the truth.

I will only take friends and family or postal money order. Be cause of scammers on the other end. When someone pays for goods and uses a credit card they can do a charge back and PayPal automatically refunds their money back. So you can end up with no money and lose your parts.

^THIS^ is exactly right.
You can be scammed on both ends..as a seller or buyer.
if you want PP protection from bad sellers not sending stuff, then dont cry about paying the PP fee. Its pretty simple.
Sellers are covered if they ship to registered name & address, etc.
I NEVER ship to a third party on buyer request which of course provided after payment. thats a red flag & risky.

I've seen just the opposite happen to a seller. He accepted PP family & friends for custom t-shirts he sold to a police officer. Shipped them out and delivered to buyer/PO. Then the buyer/PO calls PayPal and reports it as a fraudulent transaction. (not sure of the excuse given, either someone hacked his account or misused it) Buyer/PO kept shirts. PP removed the money from my friend/seller's account and he lost the goods & money! My friend tried to call the buyer/PO but his phone was disconnected. He later found out he was a ex-cop (fired) turned bad. Seller/Buyer beware in all transactions!

Everybody making a purchase remember to add 3% PayPal fees ...no excuses we all have to do it!! Full coverage insurance #nobrainer!!

I give everyone the option. Let the buyer decide. Never an issue.
As a buyer I have paid the majority "fnf"
with no issues.
Now "s&h" "fees" nope!

I have done the opposite, I’ve sent parts friends and family. Lol. But all kidding aside, most all transactions go off without a hitch. I have gotten parts ready for ppl and have a price agreed to with shipping, get there info, give them my pay pal, then never to be heard from them again. Needless to say they won’t be getting any parts from me. These are ppl that I have had a 2 page conversation with. Kim

It depends on what I'm buying and how much it cost and how "well" I know the person. I know I dont technically "know" any of yall but alot of you I feel close to and I feel like we are a family. I'm not gonna insult you buy saying hey I dont trust you and I'm gonna pay a fee to insure myself on a 20 dollar part. Now if I'm buying something that is a big money item like say a 2000 dollar set of heads the heck yea I m gonna pay 3 percent and cover my butt. But 20-100 bucks if I feel I can trust you I'm not paying a fee and risk insulting a friend by making them think I dont trust them.

To me it is not really the money issue, ouch 3% ouch...What I would like to do is business with human beings......

Yea I agree its not really about the money as much as building relationships and friendships. (On fabo anyways) now Ebay all beats are off I'm securing my butt off Haha

Kinda getting the idea from reading some of these is it’s ok to steal as long as it’s not YOU that’s getting ripped off. I got it now.

beware - there are jackoffs on here too, I don't remember the guys name but there was one dicks**ker who would rip off 3 or 4 people, get called out, get banned from here and a month or two later join with a new user name and do it again - eventually the police got involved.

so no kangaroos?? :poke::poke:
….you mean face to face, old school.. because check it, those are human beings at the other end of PayPal.

3% is worth every cent. $80 x 3% is $2.40, pay it.. and now IF the "seller" tries to stick you, you have recourse. It's not an insult to ask for insurance if don't know the person.

Lots of thieves around these days. If 3% is going to kill you shame on you.
I respectfully disagree with this statement.
Why would you shame someone for saving their hard earned money? I
If it's someone you "know" and trust and you know they are not going to purposely rip you off why would you or should you pay the 3%?
Let's say for example I have a buddy on here. We have done business together several times we talk daily we text PM poke at each other etc etc. If I was gonna drive and meet him and his house to buy an intake should I pay him 3% extra in cash also??
Just because we are using a wireless network to transfer money it's still the same transaction. Same ppl same money! Just a different means.
Idk how the heck that is stealing?

How do you get that it's ok to steal??
Where did you get that from?

Well if guys are ripping off PayPal by avoiding the 3% fees and sending money as Friend and Family payments, is that not stealing 3% off of Paypal? Sounds like theft to me.

Do you not understand that Paypal is a business and for their services they charge a 3% fee for secure money exchanges so we don't have to pass out OUR credit card numbers to every stranger out there. PLEASE tell me this is sinking in. Friends and Family is there for guys like me that truly want to send money to a Friend or Family member. Its NOT for goods or services.

My rant is not so much PayPal related as it is consumer/business related. I've owned my own business for over 20yrs and have never had a single morality issue. No lawsuits, clean better business bureau, ect. The only customers I have ever lost either moved or died. Period! I will sooner loose money than face.

I did a job in '08 where I learned a lot about consumer protection. I did a job for a pro tennis player. He paid the deposit on his AmEx, I did the job, and he told me he was 100% thrilled. He told me to put the balance on his AmEx too. Everything seemed hunky dory. Well about 2 months later one of my guys called me from his bank to tell me his payroll check bounced. That scumbag had AmEx reverse the final payment and the deposit....over $72k. I wasn't notified by my bank, merchant, or anything. His word as a consumer trumped my record as an AmEx accepting business. I had to take out a loan on my home to cover expenses until that was resolved. It wound up in court and I won, but I had to endure almost 2yrs of bullshit to get my money back. I haven't accepted any credit cards since. I was always a trusting, handshake kinda guy. Now I realize that nowadays people are much more likely to be scumbags because they can hide behind a phone or computer. Had he pulled that **** before the internet or cellphones...I can guarantee you that he'd be seeking an oral surgeon.

Ok I can see your perspective!
I still disagree but I see your point.
