It seems to me that since the board has disallowed comments in sale ads that the board has been missing something. I learned a lot from some of the comments. Also it was a way to keep your sale ad moving back into view. What if there was a switch, Allow comments or Not Allow comments, then the seller could decide what they wanted.

Any thoughts???????

Great idea. I would welcome comments on my sale threads because of the bump factor, and i may have something listed wrong and it maybe priced a bit high.

I agree as long as they dont get our of hand or used to bash the seller. I'm thinking that is probably why they are not allowed in the first place. Because ppl love to be negative and bash ppl on open forums.
I have no problem with people correcting me if I'm mistaken but not openly bash my ads.

Nope. Comments turn sale threads into a goat and pony show. Way too many opinions about a particular part or how it's described. Every comment bumps the sale thread to the top which is against the sale rules. No rules and the place is a free for all.

It has ALWAYS been that way --

And when someone starts bashing your ads?

Yep, that is exactly why.

Let me be clear -- just so people understand. I have ZERO intention of allowing comments in ads.

Understand , but ,
Yeah, but it`s hard not to bash some of the idiotic assed prices some clowns ask !!

I completely agree with not allowing ppl bashing ads and haggling prices and so forth and I understand why we have this rule in place. Basically people are aholes and can't keep their opinions to theirselves.
But there have been a couple times in sale ads or want ads were I seen a learnable opportunity. I know I am guilty of committing on a couple sale ads before I realized there was a rule in place against it. And tmm set me straight. But it does suck that all the buttholes with opinions ruin it for everyone else. But rules are rules...

Like when somebody offers a 340 crankshaft for 400 bucks. Seriously? Put a little more with it and get a new forged crank. Or then you see somebody buy something for a good deal and a week later put a for sale ad up for the same part for three times the cost. It's tough not to comment on some things. I get it though. If we allowed comments, I would be like "You want 500 buck for that POS?"

THAT is why comments are not allowed right there. I think it's actually best left a lone.

I agree 100%!

That's why I'm selling this for $1,000, plus shipping, to avoid those crazy flipper mark ups.

How about when you make an offer and it's labeled commenting by a mod and is deleted.

Just cuz you ask a price for a car... doesn't mean you're entitled to get it. People will offer you what they think it's worth and if you can't stand that..then gtfo of here with it. Get a clue already.imo

Yeah 8500 for a slant car with rust bubbles. In that case, my 75 F250 is worth 25K. Some people are just stupid.

Offers and bartering are to be done through a pm. The sale threads aren't for auctions.

Yea I really want that car too. I was thinking 2500 when I looked at the pics then I saw the asking price and just turned away

it would chaos and anarchy ====== oh wait, I like chaos and anarchy........

Comments never allowed? Hardly. Here is a thread of mine that got out of hand due to comments.

[SOLD] - Early a factory sway bar

Why do people quote some thread that staff just didn't see as an example that comments are allowed? We get around 10,000 posts a week and cant read them all. Staff just didn't see it. That's all. It doesn't mean comments are allowed. Had you or someone else reported it, we would have taken action.

Yup. I must agree. I report stuff from time to time and somebody almost always does something.

lets say, just a hypothetical, that i know this truck (i dont) and its a POS (and it is NOT a engine swap assembly, not with that truck pan, it aint)

[FOR SALE] - 318 engine swap assembly. Edelbrock to oil pan, 727 trans located in San Jose, Ca. $500

could i start a thread in the mopars section, calling out the seller?
can i comment on it that way?

or are for sale adds completely off limits?

what if a someone with the screen name of "justin figgot" came online, and posted a for sale add, can i post an add in the main forum telling people this name sounds familiar and not to deal with him?
