DO NOT SEND PAYPAL AS GIFT OR FRIENDS OR FAMILY UNLESS....

My rant is not so much PayPal related as it is consumer/business related. I've owned my own business for over 20yrs and have never had a single morality issue. No lawsuits, clean better business bureau, ect. The only customers I have ever lost either moved or died. Period! I will sooner loose money than face.

I did a job in '08 where I learned a lot about consumer protection. I did a job for a pro tennis player. He paid the deposit on his AmEx, I did the job, and he told me he was 100% thrilled. He told me to put the balance on his AmEx too. Everything seemed hunky dory. Well about 2 months later one of my guys called me from his bank to tell me his payroll check bounced. That scumbag had AmEx reverse the final payment and the deposit....over $72k. I wasn't notified by my bank, merchant, or anything. His word as a consumer trumped my record as an AmEx accepting business. I had to take out a loan on my home to cover expenses until that was resolved. It wound up in court and I won, but I had to endure almost 2yrs of bullshit to get my money back. I haven't accepted any credit cards since. I was always a trusting, handshake kinda guy. Now I realize that nowadays people are much more likely to be scumbags because they can hide behind a phone or computer. Had he pulled that **** before the internet or cellphones...I can guarantee you that he'd be seeking an oral surgeon.
