Hi folks, I met a new friend last weekend that also enjoys the old A bodies. As it turns out, he has an Accurate 2.5" H-pipe exhaust system and 340 manifolds that he would be willing to sell for my 318 Duster. Originally I was planning to buy the TTI package from headers to tailpipes.

The Accurate system is very cost effective, and would be a nice addition to the car, but the drawback is that the dumps won't work with a frame/chassis stiffening kit. And the TTI might give a boost in HP and work with a frame kit. But I have to pay through the nose for that. I drive the car for fun, and I'm only interested in a mild build (for now).

So now I'm crowd sourcing to anyone with experience with these exhaust systems; what do you all think?

I never knew Accurate did any performance exhaust at all. I would still consider anything they make stock compared to TTI.

I would agree, having used products from both companies. I will say this however, both companies make outstanding products, their customer service is excellent and the fitment of the parts was perfect.

I have Accurate on an a-body. Fit perfect right out of the box, all brackets and hardware spot on. It is original style with all the correct bends, smaller diameter after the mufflers iirc. Had it for years, sounds great. No issues.

I have tti on a b-body. I got the smallest diameter, which seems huge, mandrel bends, H pipe. Intermediate pipes come longer than needed and have to cut to fit. Rear frame mounts don't appear to be correct. Instructions state rear hangers need to be welded on, to aluminized exhaust, I used clamps.
Perfect bends up and over the e-brake cables.
Nice system overall, and fantastic customer service.
Man, those pipes seem big.

Oh absolutely so! If you have a restoration, Accurate is extremely high quality. I like the originality of their mufflers especially.

i could be wrong but on your 318 the performance might not differ.Save your money and use the Accurate pieces.Very high quality.

The tti are mandrel bent. Is the accurate?

Either way I might just save the money and go with the accurate.

Any pics of the system?

So as it happens I didn't get a picture because the Accurate pipes were about 15 feet up on a wall, and it didn't occur to me to take one in the moment. For a description, they look an awful lot like @matthon's picture above. But these have additional dumps that come out the side of the car about where his bend up to go around the e-brake cable with the bolt-on plates that you can take off when you want to open them up. Where they come out the side is where the frame connector rail would go, if I ever wanted to put them on.

Accurate should have compression bends and the muffler clearance dents just like the factory did.
I think the Accurate systems with the side dumps are made factory correct for the 64 - 65 performance models.
Maybe these were custom made for your friend or will fit A bodies?

definitely, but there will be 3" of wiggle room because of 108" to 111" wheelbase
difference between the two..

They sure do. They have a pretty good diagram on their website of the exhaust.

here is a 2.5" TTI system that went on jamies dart.. same size pipe to the flange..

doubt you'll really notice a difference in power with that acurate system though...

So that's my old 340 Max Wedge style system on the Dart in the avatar. They worked great and the dumps were great at the track. I installed a US Car Tool sub frame connector set up - the kind that are fitted to the floor pan and get welded up from front to back to the floor pan. The dumps on the Accurate system ended up somewhere inside the connector on both sides (LOL) so I had to go to regular Accurate head pipes (Oh well). The subframe connectors work great by the way and look like Ma Mopar built the car that way.

I must have built that system many moons ago. I’m pretty much retired now so the manufacturing department is processing only factory style replacement components and exhaust systems. Change in times I guess.
