I discovered that JB Weld plastic epoxies do not stand up to ethanol.

Miller Stephenson MS 907, Manley's "Miracle Seal" and Marine Tex's "Seals All" are all supposed to withstand ethanol. I would like to buy any of those three brands, but can't find any retail outlets, and my inquiries to these companies have gone unanswered.

Would anybody know of a retail source for any of these three epoxies? Thanks a lot.

There is a gas tank repair kit called spider patch.
It has a good 2 part epoxy. Its a one shot deal,so as long as you are prepared it would work fine.

Hello Bill,
In the past I have used Seal All (not to be confused with Marine Tex's "Seals All") to repair a gas tank and a carburetor both using Ethanol added gas. Both have held up over two years so far.
Looks like your local O'Reilly Auto Parts may have Seal All if you want to go that route
See this link.

Happy Mopar:)

I like the Seal All. Advance and O'Reilly both carry it. It looks like this:

It's kinda runny, so be careful with it. But it WORKS.

I have used quick steel successfully in several fuel related emergencies. The fuel inlet nipple on a slant came put of the pump. Quicksteeled it on and drove to carlisle a day later. Still running, no leaks. Also broken fuel pump on lawn tractor. Put a nail down the tube to hold true and that one stands up to this day as well.

I use Permatex cold weld for everything. It is very similar to JB Weld. When I make circle track floats, I reseal them with it. I have had zero problems. I use it on my TQ wells, zero problems. It is impervious to ethanol.

Thanks, everybody, for your kind replies. I took RustyRatRod's advice and tried Seal All because I could buy it at the local O'Reilly's. Glued the wells on and filled the fuel bowls with gas to check for leaks. Looks good so far!

I did a test in which I submerged 2 glued pieces of tquad bowl with various adhesives in gas for 3 months. Marine Tex was the only one that held up. Write up is here with the adhesives I used Fuel-resistant epoxy immersion test - very interesting results

I've had 4 Thermoquads rebuilt by Steven Stills, Jr. of Edmond, OK [stevenstillsjr@yahoo.com] with excellent results. Steven has informed me that he uses the kind of epoxy that is used to glue body panels together. It's referred to as "panel bond" or "metal bond" and is made by 3M, Kent and Wurth. He tells me that nothing else seems to work, in his opinion. Panel bond is pretty expensive; maybe about $60 per tube. Also, I'm not sure what kind of surface preparation you should do.

you can get smaller packages of 3M panel bond at Home Depot / Menards. I used some last year to repair the chute on my snow blower.
why John Deere put a plastic chute on that thing beats me but, the panel bond is holding my reinforcement in place.
