I got my new 1962 Lancer drug out of its dungeon and into the sunlight for the first time in well over a decade. Im the 3rd owner of the car. The car was originally white and it was painted sometime before 1980 (because the oil change sticker is over the blue paint). I guess somebody just didn't like white. :) It has 3,004 miles on it...that might be good or might be bad. The body is rust free and the interior is in great shape. The last oil change was in 1980 when it had 2,916 miles on it. Since 1980 it has had 88 miles put on the car. Its just a cool old A body. I plan on trying to get a little more history on it to see why it has such low miles.

The first thing I plan on doing is pulling the plugs and see what they look like and sprinkle some Marvelous Magical Mystery Oil in the holes for a little cylinder lube let it sit and see if I can role it over. Then Ill go from there. Any advice about this im all ears. I will Keep yall posted.

my best advice would be to trade it off or sell it cheap to somebody in my area.
Nice ride, I was looking to buy one of those while back.

It does look great, I hope the mileage is correct. I was looking at your arm rests, are the front ones longer than the rear ones?

Thanks,

I wont know for sure if the mileage is correct until I drive it...I'm not too concerned either way...it doesn't have rear arm rest...

Is the slant aluminum possibly?

Well I got an update...I lubed the top of the engine good and the cylinders and let it sit a couple days..The engine rolled over fairly easy after rocking it back and forth...I had the valve cover off and all the rockers moved, I thought...was checking the rockers and three where very loose...3 stuck valves and 3 bent push rods...so in the process of pulling the head now...going to check the piston to see if there was any damage done to it previously or if I done it after it's been in hibernation...lol...I think I done it on the initial roll over with the wrench

I doubt that it was you, if you say the rollover was pretty easy and you did not feel any hard resistance in spots, then it was probably previous damage.

I agree with 64mopar, unless you stood on a breaker bar. Is the engine a 170 or 225? Just wondering, parts are mostly the same, but push rods for 170 are shorter. Be careful around the heater box, they get fragile after 60 years.

It's a 170...thanks for the advice...I got the head off tonight and taking it to the machine shop tomorrow...everything else looks good to be setting up for so long I think.

Update...the old 9 to 5 has occupied most of my time lately but I have managed to get the head back on the car and fire the old girl off....purrs like a kitten...I cleared the carb good and it's working perfect...just need to clean fuel tank and lines and get the brakes working....will post photos and video when I figure out how to do it off my phone or load it on a computer

I know it came from Dodge red but I like orange...:)

Very, very nice, FeMo!

I did a resto-rod makeover on a '62 Valiant V-200 some time ago, and I still have a lot of the original running gear and suspension parts. Although most early A-body parts are readily available for purchase, let me know if you can't find anything and I'll probably give it to you if I have it.

Interesting!! I have twin brother to your car. Mine was and is white, has the exact same blue dash and seat covers too!!! Mine dos not have that low mileage though. Good to see another Road Warrior, some call them Road Toads!!!!!
I puled out the 170 slant as it has issues and now trying to decide whether to replace it with a 225 I have or a 318 I also have. Not sure of all the issues the 318 would present except the usual rear end, radiator deal.

That's great to know Bill, thank you very much...
