eddie SP2P intake

Probably so. Torque and fuel mileage. Not much power increase and they stop flowing at about 4000 rpm.

Agreed. The intake was brought out during the gas crunch era to improve mileage and it does so help. Add a MSD to top it off for mileage concerns.

Performance concerns? Go to a factory 4bbl., Edelbrock Performer or a Weiand Action Plus to start with.

I got a Performer from member here Tbone416 ( thanks) , need a second one for another 2 bbl car. I was jst wondering if deent. Would be a decent intake for the 318 Volare wagon I bet. It "ain't no" hotrod!!

If that sp2p is a 4 or 2bbl. and your just cruising, Use it.

The Performer and other aftermarket intakes have the larger 340/360 ports so of course they flow better but... there will be step at port match to standard/small port 318 heads which impedes the flow to some degree. SP2P acronym = Standard/Small Port 2 Plane, was offered in 2 brl and 4 brl versions. Improvement over the stock single plane intakes found on much earlier LA, like 273, were improved low end torque and millage. That comes from any dual plane intake which you probably already have with the later model stock 2 barrel intake. Better fuel millage with this 4 brl intake versus the later/current 2 brl dual plane intake? If you can keep your foot out of it. LOL

The performer rpm has the bigger 340 ports.

I like having the four barrel when I want to just put my foot in it a little. All I ever do is cruse down the country back roads anyway. I have a coupe of rebuildable 600 cfm carbs too. I would just buy a 318 spread bore OEM cast boat anchor intake , But none here locally and not wanting to pay for one plus $$ shipping for such. Especially when people back (at old) home in Mo. just give them away. lol

Wagon! Bingo!!!! Thanks Not that I will tow with the wagon, I have a real" truck! lol

They weren't made for that specifically, but that's where they ended up shining. I have a friend with a stone stock 440 in a 77 D350 Dually. The SP2P is the intake he sought out on my advice. It will literally leave four black marks off idle. lol It pulls like a frikkin bulldozer on the bottom end.
