Now that things are wrapping up, I can show you my current situation.
I'm on the North most edge of the Sea of Galilee in the Hula Valley. If you look to the far right, that is the Golan Hights area, directly in front is the Lebanon border, and the mountain rage center right is Syria.
This has been interesting, but I'm more than ready to get back to the states. The Israelis have been wonderful hosts, but the food isn't to my taste and I miss my own bed.

Wow! I knew you served, but didn't realize you were out of country. Thanks for your service!

Ditto!
Request any pics you can.

Cameras were not allowed on submarines due to security requirements but that is a fantastic photo of one of the worlds’ hot spots!

My uncle used to deliver F-15’s in flights of 3 from McDonald-Douglas/Boeing in ?Missouri? to Saudi Arabia until the Saudi’s received their full order of 75 jets. Tested everyone, rode horses to the Pyramids, led some of the princes around in flight groups, and enjoyed travel in the Mideast. Sometimes I am jealous of the surface guys. You ACTUALLY travel and see the world.
From one service member to another, thanks for your service and sacrifices!!
GOD bless you, your family, and keep you all safe!

So you're saying your new tagline is "I've been around the world so many times and all I got was a T-shirt I can't show you"? :poke:

Yeah we traveled more distance technically, because we drove around in circles constantly.
Trident subs don’t pull up to other countries’ borders, we ‘hide with pride.’ We avoid all contacts awaiting orders to initiate the end of the world.
Gunbunny is vulnerable to enemy ?soldiers, aircraft, maybe artillary- in transition to and fro, let alone his operating area.

I basically had a presidential level escort to the dive point, cleared out by other vessels.

Unlike other submarineers, Trident submarineers jeopardy lies mostly within our own technical competence to compete against other vessels or respond to casualties like all the power going off under water-fire-flooding-high radiation-weapons emergencies-reactor emergencies...

Mad respect to gunbunny!

I certainly appreciate your comments, but this is not at all tactical. At least not on my end. The IDF was present though.
I can’t comment on what I was doing, but if you look at a map, you will see what river feeds the Galilee. After some data is analyzed and people smarter than me have a look, I’m certain some change in the area will happen.
I can post a pic I took while at Jaffa this evening. One is sunset on the Mediterranean the other is Tel Aviv in the distance.

Be safe Chris.

Car show season has started. Hopefully see you soon at one of the local shows.

Very cool, I visited some family in Jordan about 8 years ago and took a trip to the Dead Sea... First pic is the highway that goes alongside it, second is the sunset looking at the Israeli side. Also some of the crazy salt-encrusted shoreline.

I'm hoping to take a trip in a few months to Casablanca, there's a lady out there I met briefly through my aunt when she was visiting the U.S. with her father. Need to practice my French and Arabic!

Please, please, don't get the wrong impression. This was not a military thing. If you knew me now, you would know that I'm in no shape for military service. The pacemaker wouldn't get me thru the door. I did 17 years in the Army, that's all they're getting!
But this trip was purely academic. I was in Israel with the University of Cincinnati. I can't share some of the pics or particulars because the research belongs to another PhD candidate. He hasn't yet compiled the data. None of what we did was classified, however we accidentally discovered a vulnerability and that was when the IDF became very interested and involved.
We also discovered a Roman mosaic and Roman graffiti that I can share later. That was also a nice unplanned find. We figured it was at least from 44 CE to 136 CE due to the designs. Smarter people than I will likely excavate the area. There are thousands of archaeological sites throughout the country.
I'm home now, jet lagged and a huge craving for bacon!

Shalom

That's cool!
Looking towards the Israeli from Jordan side is unique.
We didn't get to the dead sea as we were dealing with fresh water. I really wanted to though.
One of the historians that joined us was talking about the Dead Sea and the salt pillars as the basis of the Sodom and Gomorrah story in the bible.

Thanks so much for posting this & the pics. My grandmother was born in Jaffa.
On my bucket list for sure.

Yes same stuff here, references to Sodom and Gomorrah and the Dead Sea in the quran too... it's a strange but cool feeling being at these places where great pivotal events took place thousands of years ago. Also crazy is the salt content, not only is it super-saturated but it is the only body of salt water in the world (IIRC) to also have other salts besides Sodium Chloride. When I was in Jordan I also visited the Roman ruins at Jerash, the Cave of the Seven Sleepers and the coolest one, Petra. I got to tour Petra on horseback, THAT was COOL. Having my cousin with us (who grew up in Jordan) was also nice he knew lots of info and history about the places we visited. I have plenty more pics I can upload once I get back home to my PC.

Those boats are impressive. Got a VIP tour of the Ohio based at Bangor back in 94. I was attending a joint forces conference and sat next to a Command Master Chief. Turns out he was a former chief of the boat on the Ohio. He and Iwere retiring about the same time. He offered the tour andI took him up on it.

Ever wonder if there is a coronation between the salt content of the dead sea, and Lots wife?

Very well could be, not sure if the quran specifically mentions her turning into a salt pillar but the story is pretty much the same as the bible. In Islamic belief the entire city was raised up out of the ground by God, flipped upside down and dropped. That's the supposed explanation of why the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth and the salt is supposed to be another visual reminder of what happened.

Sorry for the delay here are some pics...

This is Jerash:

First pic is of our tour guides, wonderful people and they were fasting the entire time since it was Ramadan even though temps were around 110*F. I don't know how they did it I had to break my fast because of dehydration. Probably because I'm half White LOL
