Question, will 245/60/14 tires fit on a 14x6 stock Mopar rally wheel, with beauty rings sbp?

Nope. Narrowest rim a 245/60/14 is supposed to be mounted on is a 14x7.

Been doing it for years

Yes they will !!!

Just because you can cram them on there doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. Defeats the purpose anyway, it distorts the tread pattern and changes the sidewall loading. You’d get better traction and handling with a tire that’s actually supposed to be mounted on a 6” wide rim.

But yeah, I’m sure you know better than the tire manufacturer.

I've been running 245-60-14s on 5.5 inch rallyes for 25 years (on the back right?). They have worked great over tens of thousands of miles. Never a problem. Given a new build, I move the springs against the frame with the MP kit and run the same tire on 7 inch Rallyes. Better bite? Sure, but those tires on stock 5.5 rims will work just great. If your want pictures just ask - still running them that way on my Swinger. I always like the front and back tires to look the same sidewall height (aesthetics) so 205-70-14s are the closest for the front.

Just because you’ve been doing something stupid for a long time doesn’t make it a good idea. But I’m sure you guys are much smarter than the guys that actually make the tires?

I guess if you’re running BFG TA’s to begin with it’s not like you care too much about performance anyway. Spin those things up with a tired 318 and some 2.76 gears all day.

I'll place 25 years of actual experience against a conservative engineer's *** cover chart any day. Has anybody ever had a problem with this combination??? If so I'll stand corrected.

Are you that ******* stupid...they work bruh!!!

No, he's not. While I'm at it, I'll defend him as one of the smartest people on this forum. You should apologize to him. That was a pretty nasty remark.

Besides, he's right. Minimum wheel width specs should be followed. I'm certainly not going to sit here and advise someone to run something out of those parameters and neither should you. Are you going to take responsibility if something goes wrong?

Question was will it fit wtf...we said yeah been doing it forever wtf!!

RRR - I agree that the response was pretty harsh, but the post that it responds to was a pretty snitty piece of work in itself...

Of anybody on this site I would never have expected such a stance from you, RRR - actual experience against an engineer's chart. Who are you and what have you done with Rusty Rat Rod? Just seems kinda out of the norm for you. I'll continue to stand by my experience and I'm waiting for somebody to tell us that something went wrong with this combo - anywhere, anytime...

What I'm sayin is, I would not advise someone to do it. I've broken those specs a LOT through the years. Will it fit? Yup. There are reasons though for the minimum width spec for tires. Probably way more than we are aware of. Way smarter and more educated people than us came up with them, so "I" am not going to advise someone otherwise.

Things like this can be discussed without getting completely nasty with people. We're better than that here.

Sorry for harsh remark to all that I offended, really uncalled for.

That was nice. Thanks. I got no quams with you. Never have. You bring a lot to the table here. I just think we should try to be more like family, that's all.

Stock 73 340 Dart Sport 8.25 had 245/60/14 5.5 rally when I bought it and inside tire was rubbing spring. I agree with 72Blu and run correct wheel width.
Do as you wish on your own stuff.

They will fit ok on the rim, but you may have to let the pressure down ,so they wear even, they bulge in the middle, i ran L 60 15s on 6 inch rims on a 70 duster, but to get even wear i had to keep pressure at about 25 pounds, thats when tires were bias ply and recommended 32 pounds

I always recommend a 7 inch wheel for a 245-60-14 , but its your car , do as you wish.
Along the same lines as a 275-60-15 on a 15 x 7 inch rim... Hmmmm !!!

Just because you can , don't make it right !!!

This is a 245/60R14 on a 14×5.5 rim. The original owner of my car did this. Sure it physically fits, but it ain't right. I'll be getting a pair of 14x7 wheels in the near future.
And no, I haven't had any problems, but the tire is really bulging out on both sides of the wheel.

Will it fit, absolutely. Is it dangerous, probably not. Will you get the maximum bite out of the tire, also probably not.
Personally, I've always used the widest rim suggested. This way the sidewall is at as close to perpendicular to the tread surface.

if you follow the 1969 service manual you can't put a 245 on the back on any rim.
Yes they fit,i too have run them.Should you ..maybe not.
You are all correct..Now everybody hug and move to the next post!
