This might be a stupid question, but better safe than sorry. I'm swapping my 4.56 spool third member for a 3.55 sure-grip I picked up at a good price, but needed a lot of cleaning. When I was wire-wheeling it to prep it for paint, some of the crud ended up going inside the case. Can I spray it out with degreaser? Or flush it with gas? I don't want any residual anything screwing with the gear oil down the road.
Thanks guys...

Clean it with laquer thinner or mineral spirits and blow out with compressed air. Once its dry. It wont affect the gear oil.

No solvent you could get inside will hurt anything. Now any grit or sand you leave inside will wreak havoc on the bearings. Best course of action would be to take it apart and clean it good,
