Looking towards the Israeli from Jordan side is unique.
We didn't get to the dead sea as we were dealing with fresh water. I really wanted to though.
One of the historians that joined us was talking about the Dead Sea and the salt pillars as the basis of the Sodom and Gomorrah story in the bible.

Yes same stuff here, references to Sodom and Gomorrah and the Dead Sea in the quran too... it's a strange but cool feeling being at these places where great pivotal events took place thousands of years ago. Also crazy is the salt content, not only is it super-saturated but it is the only body of salt water in the world (IIRC) to also have other salts besides Sodium Chloride. When I was in Jordan I also visited the Roman ruins at Jerash, the Cave of the Seven Sleepers and the coolest one, Petra. I got to tour Petra on horseback, THAT was COOL. Having my cousin with us (who grew up in Jordan) was also nice he knew lots of info and history about the places we visited. I have plenty more pics I can upload once I get back home to my PC.
