Just a heads up if you do get asked to accept a promotion, make sure you have a clear, written detailed report of policy and procedures from upper management to follow. It's usually the middle guys( supervisors/ foremen) that are the scapegoats for the bigger companies, when crap hits the fan. Wish you luck on the promotion BUT protect yourself!
