Has anybody converted there A body clutch pedal from plastic bushing to needle bearing? If so I was wondering what is involved? 1962-74 B & E body cars are needle bearing pedals but the A's have the plastic bushings

My 70 super bee had plastic, 383HP with an 18 spline from factory

Prove me wrong. I think all are bushing.

I replaced my plastic bushing with a bronze bushing I bought off of ebay.

I have a '73 and up set of pedals that are needle bearing. But, they are factory, not converted.

My 69 - 340 Swinger, I've had since new, has needle brgs.
IIRC Brewers lists parts nec.
Buddy’s gts is a bushing. I find it hard to believe a needle bearing that size would take the punishment. I guess if it remains lubricated.

I was surprised back in 71ish, when they started dropping on my face while I was pulling the clutch pedal out to go auto for racing.

(It's back to 4 gear now).

So I am converting my 66 Dart from auto to 5 speed and bought a used pedal setup. It is plastic bushing and I will be pulling it apart to refurbish the unit.. sure would be nice to convert it to bronze bushing or needles. I did read that some early A,s came out with a “heavy duty “ pedal setup that was bronze bushed so I’m sure it’s possible to convert what I have.

My roadrunner and dart have plastic bushings, the 61 w200 I'm working on has a needle bearing clutch and plastic bushing on the brake pedal.
