Did they have dirt on them? Carbon build-up? Why scrape them?

They both cracked out by the W2 under the headers. I heard they were prone to doing that so I stuck with the 3/8 2.02 intake valves. They flowed
[email protected] then fell on there face out of the box. I did some quick port work and got them over 300 cfm and quit because I only had a .520 Racer Brown cam. It ran 9.80’s on pump gas BP93 on my 408.
