67/68/69 cuda dilemma

One part i really wanted to deal with was the dent on top of the LH quarter that was just filled up with bondo. It eventually cracked and rusted pretty badly. This thing bothered me since i got the car. I have been wanting to strip it down and see whats under there and the extent of it.

I sanded back the paint and bondo. I then used muriatic acid and a small wire brush to clean ALL the pitting out around the perimeter. Then i neutralized it with a water and TSP solution. Forgot to take a pic of the cleaned out metal, but it was nice and clean. No brown flecks in it at all.

I had mixed up a small sample of that PPG light grey primer, and used it on a sanded down test piece. It adhered great. So i used what was left to seal up the clean pitted metal in this area, then i applied some Evaporust gel to the rest and covered it up with plastic. More than likely i will eventually be cutting this section out, fabbing up , and welding in a new piece of sheet steel to replace the severely pitted part, but for now i am going to derust it, bang it out and apply primer sealer.
