Hi all,

I am running a four barrel Offenhauser intake manifold with stock exhaust on my 225 ci engine. I had an exhaust leak, so I took the two manifolds into my machine shop to have the manifold to block surfaces machined for better a better seal. Is it possible for this procedure to warp the exhaust manifold? The number 6 exhaust port is now about 1/2" out of line too high and the number 5 about half that, and number 4 a little less.

. What has happened? The other end lines up fine.

You won't be able to tell unless it's bolted up. Is this with all three bolts bolted down with a gasket in the middle? Between the intake and exhaust

See, the thing is when you face these manifolds, you have to face the intake AND the exhaust to the same thickness as the triangle washers hold the things on across both pads and if they are all cocked on a 1/4 thick intake side and a 3/8 thick exhaust side mounting pad, your gonna get some less than ideal sealing. If that exhaust does not line up with the gasket, its done. Im not sure how that happened, maybe the heat involved in grinding the face down? I got one if you need one but Im sure there are ones closer.

Yes, everything is bolted up properly. The exhaust is clearly warped somehow.

Thanks for the offer of a manifold. I should be able to find one locally.

That thing looks cracked to Me, big-time, and someone actually took Your money to mill it like that?? Amazing...... I'd donate one Myself but You're a tad far,...lol!

I would loosen everything, align the port openings, then re tighten

I had to get a new one. The one on my Dart warped while on the car & snapped the stud. Replaced the stud & I couldn't reinstall it. From what I've read it's not an uncommon problem. That along with cracking. Especially on the early manifolds.
