Extra hands at the shop

Everyone who puts a tool in their child’s or grandchild’s hands when they want to help is a winner in my book.
I am an aerospace engineer with a college degree in Chemistry. We have college and high school summer interns join us when school is on vacation. I have encountered too many students who are great in academics but who have no mechanical experience at all. My colleagues and I rate and evaluate each student at the end of summer. We always offer a job to the college interns who demonstrate a mechanical aptitude as well as good grades. We also track the high school students who show an interest in learning to use the mechanical side of the brain.

Good job to all you parents and grandparents who get the young ones involved.
