You should consider doing what I am thinking about. Make it a four on the tree. I LOVE the column shift on mine. You don't see them anymore. You already have the four positions. Just put a reverse lever in the floor next to the driver's seat. Several early 60s cars came with four on the tree shifters. Most had the reverse lever under the dash.
