wow, I've seen that kind of pinch injury before. I tried to catch my new roll-up garage door before it crashed down and one finger tip got stuck in a hinged panel joint. When I finally extricated my finger, it looked like a Hanna-Barberra cartoon. It was like 3/16" thick and about 1/2" wider than normal. I was actually pretty lucky, it didn't break the skin, no long term nerve damage, didn't break any bones, and it's fine, now. But I wouldn't have bet on it from the way it looked immediately afterward.
