You say "about" 2.5 inches clearance .
Did you actually measure, or just guess ?
Do you have, infact, 2.7 inches that will allow the clutch fan mentioned again and again ?
You can see how the fan is mounted behind the clutch, and perhaps the clutch could be trimmed.
