Is there a sequence in tighten the bolts on a 727 transmission pan when puttin one back on? Would anyone have a diagram or pic?

Get them all snug then start on one to spec, then every other one then the ones you skipped.

I like to get them all in and run down to the pan finger tight and then criss cross to tighten.
Probably not really required, but it's just the way I do it out of habit.

I put studs in my tranny, much easier to install gaskets, and pan. I just snug them all down, and the torque them to 155 inch pounds.

I start 4 corners then fill in the sides. Finger tight to start, criss cross to torque and one more time around just to make sure I didn't forget one. I know there is a torque spec but I just use a 1/4" ratchet and make sure the gasket isn't being squeezed out. Start with a flat pan by tapping the bolt holes on the edge of a vice or a block of wood.

Torque spec depends on the gasket . Moroso blue is 95 inlb., Mopar Performance is 125 inlb , Fel-pro is 110 inlb, all recommend install dry starting on the side rails going to the front and rear . All say ,"do not over tighten "

Read every word; LEARN every word.

Thanks for the tips, put the stock pan back on today. I had a deep dish on before,it leaked constantly on one side.nothing work on making it stop.

All steel pans need "body work" to seal right. I have a chunk of iron l place the pan edge on and l use a special hammer l ground to a convex shape, almost like a ball peen hammer; to tap each hole back down actually below level in order to pre-stress every attaching point. Then l only use the duraprene red fiber gasket. I use no sealer or adhesive. They never leak.

No more leaks with the stock pan.put a felpro gaaket on to.they seal real good as well.

I use a nut driver, go round and round til they are all snug then a stubby handled 1/4 drive ratchet to finish it off.
I usually spray high tack on pan side of gasket. Works for me.
Sometimes i use my 1/4 air ratchet. Goes to 11 foot pounds-ish. Close enough.
