I am having a debate with a buddy about how the console attaches to the brackets. I say the front of the console, the screws go over the carpet and into the brackets. He is saying the screws go underneath the carpet and do not show when installed. Can anyone help solve this question????

Thanks.

Yep on outside. If it was under, you would have to rip carpet off to remove console.
Friends like that make us look smarter lol:poke::thumbsup:

How are you bud, how you doing, what ever happened with that fender where I got my roof moldings from, you ever get it?
You want to laugh I still haven't opened the box that I had the moldings sent to me from last yr lol.
I figured the day we start getting the vinyl top together to install I was going to look at them. I just may take a look at them this weekend as im doing some new work on the engine now (changing the cam) nothing big, after that the roof will go on. I am still looking for a cpl of those console brackets for the 4 speed console,
I did get the hump cover finally and that looked perfect with the new carpet cover...
Nice speaking to you.

See a little plastic plug in your upper door metal? The 67 model had a big chromed phillips screw head showing there. My point being, this is one of the very few places where their engineers put extra effort into hiding a screw.
For my console... my carpet is black so a black button head screw for a trucks bed liner install would pretty much hide itself. Alas... the front of my console skirt is held in place with hook and loop ( like Velcro ) so these screws are underneath the carpet.

To be completely honest in don't remember the members name but I posted on this board looking for one and someone said he had one, I offered him some cash and he sold it to me. I think that's your best bet also.
They make repro for B body but not for us with the A Body cars.
