Mallory Hyfire Ignition problem

I didn't see where you need a ballast resister in the instructions.

Most likely it's the coil having issues or maybe a bad ground.

There's only one ground on the box, so that's an easy double check, I'll make sure that that ground is happy. And my thinking is the same for the ballast resistor

It's a Mallory race only coil on my Dart Sport race car. Not a good idea to use one on a car seeing extended driving.

Not particularly specific: https://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/MAA-690.pdf

As for something overheating & opening the circuit, it could be coil or something inside the box.

If it's inside the box, that would just be caused by bad ground, right? Or faulty box. I'm leaning towards coil, because I have its the factory unit and is mounted on the intake, where there's plenty of heat
