MEMBER "RDWSP" DID NOT FINISH PAYING BILL

-
Ok agreement was since he did not have money finish paying his bill i would take the dart in for credit towards bill and also 1000 cash and boat to finish paying bill.

Ok, good enough. Thanks for makin that part clear. So then, you're out the boat and 1K, right? From what I read, the Dart was delivered. Or you ended up with it however it got there, correct?

How much do yall think this is worth. He said $5000.
I agreed to $4500 which was ridiculous in my opinionion but was trying to help him out. It is a 69 swinger 340 bench seat 4 speed. Brought to me as it sits. Has a 73 340 needs total restoration.

But hold on now. I'm in agreement here......she ain't worth 5K, BUT you agreed to it. You said so yourself. I know, I know. You're trying to help the guy out. I get it.....and good on you. But you agreed to that thing.

Ok, so I don't have to go back and reread where I didn't see it to begin with, how much total money are you short? Not including, boats, hoes, cars and whatever else. In other words, how much MONEY did he actually PAY and how much MONEY is he actually short? Cause at this point, I gotta agree. It ain't lookin like you got the good end of the stick........but........but........you agreed to it. You just ain't got a boat and 1K.

I see the problem... it’s “you were trying to help him out” which dug the hole even deeper for you. He should have helped you out by paying the bill or putting a lower value (in trade) on that rust bucket Dart. Instead he took you for another ride by giving you an over valued rust bucket for good work you did on his Challenger. If you couldn’t keep his Challenger in the first place (which is why you let him take it without paying in full) then why did you agree to store his rust bucket Dart?

A boat, a ‘69 Dart and a 73 340 is getting pretty complicated for $2,500. Probably should have held onto his Challenger until he sold the 69 Dart, the boat and the 73 340 and given you the cash from the sale of those items.

What’s that famous line from a movie? “Show me the money!”

if I ever run across that Challenger at a show or in a parking lot , or hell, even sitting in a driveway, I'll make sure and put a big *** $2500.00 scratch down the side of that thing

Right or 3500 total he paid 800 since and no boat. He asked if i wanted the boat. He is 14 hours from me i asked to meet half way. So then he asked if i wanted boat or not so i said i would rather get paid.Anyway im done with all this just sad to be took for a ride by a fellow member i spent 2 years of my off time from work late nights and weekends.

I had to move to a new place with no shop. The dart could sit outside under a tarp. I just couldnt let that happen to something i am proud of. Like i said i did it to try to help with his bill. Had i known how bad it was i wouldnt have done it but he showed up woth it it was not what he said it was

So all he's paid is 800 cash and a rust bucket. Yeah, I don't think you owe him anymore favors.

Correct thats when i thought we were friends. I Guess not all mopar guys stick together like i thought

This is one of his last text

"By the way who came up with the price for the dart. It's not a column shift. 4 speed cars cost way more money and two grand for the boat the dart is worth more than five grand in the boats worth more than two grand. but I agreed just Because of the circumstances. It was going to work out way better for you. "

This saddens me, because it looks like you do great work. I'd like to think Mopar guys are a bit different, but I guess assholes aren't choosy. I'm not going to get into the whole 'he owes me money' thing to the dollar, but he still sounds like an asshole to me. I hope it doesn't stop you from working on a Mopar for someone in the future.

I will this just opened my eyes to do business in a different way. I take pride and my work.

Good! Just maybe nail down terms a little more in writing, and signed. Include as many 'in case of' clauses in there as you can... just so you have signed docs if you ever need a Judge to see it.

That BS would not fly in WV, those 5 guys would have lead going at them so fast.

I wasn't carrying then. That came later. The owner basically said let them take it. I had him do a dash and tunnel for me 10 years later and we talked about it. He never got another penny from those guys. And it didn't bother him.

Anyway just gonna let my lawyer figure it out. I am done with this bumm.
I get the feeling you thought this to would be a "yeah, you're a good guy, I'll do this for x dollars" from someone you didn't really know too well, without any sort of signed agreement. And then took a boat or whatever in payment.. this may be very hard for you to win in court, and you might wind up losing money at the end of the day. It might be worth it if you wind up with the car though.
I run a photography business on the side, and I've dealt with **** like this.. didn't take me long before I found some sample contracts online, modified them for me, and made anyone that paid me for what I do, what was expected, and my terms, and sign it. It came in handy a few times when I had someone tell me 'I want ALL the raw images you took at my wedding! I paid for them! I'm calling my lawyer!". Yeah, sweetheart, you signed a contract that stated "I will only release to you for personal use processed images which I deem acceptable ." I never got a call from any lawyer.
You're basically running a business with what you're doing. I'm not saying you need to go get a business license or anything like that... but get an agreement, and make it specific, and vague at the same time (hard to explain what I mean, there may be some lawyers on here that understand that).
I'd hate to see someone not take advantage of your skills, but if they won't agree to something like this, walk away.

Just my two cents.

Just the boat or 2500

If 2500 is "about" all you're out, it might be the wiser choice.......for your health's sake to let it go. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it should be an option to think about.
