Weight loss and perseverance

-
It is the last day of the month and I only lost one more pound in the past 2 weeks. Not really a surprise since the weather is warmer and I am more active, so I’m probably also building a little muscle mass and retaining a bit of water along with it.

Still, not a bad month. I lost 3 lbs making my new total 48 lbs lost.

Next month should be a big milestone as I reach the halfway point in my goal to lose 100 lbs.

I’m stoked! If I can keep up the rate of 3 lbs per month lost, I will be at 250 lbs by the end of September!

It just about mid month now and my weight hasn’t really changed. I have been a lot more active so I think I am gaining some muscle as I lose body fat. I say that because while the scale doesn’t show a change, my belt does. I am down to the last notch now...

Time to get out the leather punch, set a goal one punch at a time, 34-36 inch waist is comfortable. I have found that sugar is my biggest enemy.. love it but hate it! 215 down to a steady 175 6'-0 57yrs old, hereditary high LDL cholesterol

I will buy another belt when I get to the point of needing another notch. This is the second belt I have shrunk out of since I started and I’m keeping them like trophies. I have lost 8” off my waist so far and every new belt is a whole new set of goals!

Hmmmm...this is an interesting one. For the past week my lower back has been bugging me.

Today when I decided to tighten my belt to the last notch, the pain went away in a few hours.

I think that since I am still carrying my belly weight in the front, it is putting stress on my lower back and the belt is acting to stabilize and support it.

My back is unstable due to old injuries and the weight loss complicates things. Now that I understand what my belt is doing for me, I can adjust it accordingly.

I never realized it until today.

Today I was looking at my numbers and decided to calculate how the 47 lbs I have lost were gained over the 20 years. I was quite surprised by the results.

47 lbs = 184,500 calories
Over the 20 years, that’s 685 calories per month or just 23 calories per day.

It was only eating an extra 23 calories per day for 20 years that caused the gain. 23 calories isn’t even this...

That's amazing when you look at it that way, wouldn't it be nice if cutting back that little would make you loose weight as easy as it is to gain it.

Actually, it would. I just don’t have 20 years to wait!

The calculations make perfect sense. It took only 23 calories a day to gain 47 lbs over 20 years (240 months) and I have lost it in 19 months. 240 divided by 19 is about 12.5. Therefore I am losing at a rate 12.5x faster than I gained.

In order to lose what I have, I cut out about 300 calories per day. Which is almost exactly 12.5x 23 calories per day.

It just proves that it’s all just a simple equation. Eat more than you burn and you will gain weight. Burn more than you eat and you will lose weight.

Sunday is my official weigh-in day and as of today, I have lost another lb.

This makes the total now 49 lbs lost.

Just one more pound and I reach the halfway point of my goal!

I hope I can do it by the end of the month.

Great day today!

I have now lost 50 lbs!

Halfway to my goal!

20 months, exactly 2.5 lbs lost per month and 175,000 calories total lost.

Woohoo!

This is fantastic. Keep it up. You still suck though. lol

Remember those much smaller size pants I was so happy to finally fit into back in February? (Post #36)

Well, it think it’s time to buy some new even smaller ones! :)

Congratulations on getting to the halfway point! My girlfriend finally got sick of her weight and started using an app to help her with her daily calorie count. She has lost at least 5 pounds over the last couple/few weeks, maybe more. Me, I'm eating less, and making myself wait if I feel I'm that hungry. It helps! I wait five minutes and forget I wanted food, not needed it. I get full faster, and that means I'm not eating all I can. We even had pizza at work last night, I took my two pieces, at th m and didn't even want anymore, and I can devuor a pizza. I started at 278 pounds, and am down to 270 as of last night. Thanks for posting this, it helps, it got me to think about losing weight, and showing it wasn't that difficult when you set our mind to it.

Very cool! Keep going!

Great job!

My problem is alcohol. I had 2 backsurgeries and thru that found out I had a dead kidney from birth. Wasnt a problem till recently started to take on fluid and press on my vital organs painfully. Recently had removed but had to wear a drain bag for 4 weeks. Not fuckin fun. Then surgery to remove arthroscopically excep they coudnt remove in pieces.
I wont take pain pills cause of 1 kidney so I medicate with alcohol.Because it was precancerous and infected. so they had to cut me from naveo 4" down. That was 2 months and still scar tissue issues.
Thats my excuse for not having my 65 Dart /vert/Magnum swap 4spd on the road yet.......lol But Im still here after head on crash from drunk latino 3 weeks ago.
Told my wife someone tryin to kill me but hasnt worked yet...

Well, it has been 3 weeks since my last post. I have lost another 2 lbs putting me at 52 lbs lost.

I also checked some of my other stats. I’m just shrinking all over!

Waist, lost 8” since start
Chest, lost 7” since start
Neck, lost 4” since start
Thighs, lost 6” since start
Upper arms, lost 4” since start
Calves, lost 2” since start
Forearms, lost 2” since start

Since my neck, calves and forearms are now pretty close to as small as they will go, the remaining weight loss will start to show up more dramatically in my chest, waist, upper arms and thighs.

The next 6 months should be interesting to see how the changes progress.

End of the month and my weight is now 262 lbs, 53 lbs lost.

I look a far bit different now than I did 21 months ago.

Only 47 lbs more to go...

I am 6 foot I used to weigh about 178-180 but the wife wanted me " heavier"! So I weigh in at 190. WTF with this woman!???? It all goes to this 71 yr olds belly! 35 in. wiaist. I am plenty active but it is hard to get up and down, and dropping 10 lbs surely would help (maybe). I love the occasional cookie, small dab of ice cream 4 times week, but.......
Was at doc last week, my weight does not vary 1 /2 lb over the last 2 1/2 yrs!!!! weird.

Went to get my enhanced WA state drivers license Friday. The guy asked my height and weight. My height is 6'2" and hasn't changed since 7th grade. He asked my weight and I said I don't know what does it say. He said it says you weight 220. That was the lie I told them at some point in the past but happily this time I was able to say, "you know that is exactly correct" Two knee surgeries and a reamout disallows any alcohol and it was time to quit anyway. I never suspected I would lose 35 #'s as a nice side benefit. The knees and back still hurt though--------------------

I am certainly quite a bit different in appearance now than I was 2 years ago...

I am sure you feel so much better, congratulations on sticking with it

Heck yeah man! You're makin great progress. Keep it up!
