Agreed, 950 is about perfect for a 408.

Without know the specifics of the motor and chassis combo, it does seem to be down on power from what was listed (408, ported W2's, 10.5:1, solid roller, 950 carb). I would think it should be closer to 98-100mph in the 1/8.

Think the problem is the converter and maybe timing, rpm range on cam is 4300-7400, starting on 3000rpm would be wrong to the engine..
