Ultimate home defence pistol?

Taurus doesn't have a good rep . Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson , Ruger , Colt and GLock are all quality pieces that are dependable , shoot well and are available everywhere . Do what you want but the one you need is the one you'll use .

Wow you are one of the few people that have actually shot one and still not liked it. I see alot of haters hate them and have never fired one then they do and do a 180! I am one of those people I have to admit.
I've fired both the 19 and the 30. Super reliable and they do what they're supposed to. I honestly didn't care for either. I'm trained on the 1911 and that's what I stay with. I'll add in that I'm a lefty and have operating my 1911s down pat.

I havent read all the pages.I was wanting to get a Walther pps m2.I missed a sale at Academy sports for 299

I'll be darned. S&W makes a revolver similar to the Judge. It has a different kind of clout, it's called "The Governor". Along with the 410 and 45LC, it comes with the little c-clips to use 45ACP also. Now that's a defense weapon, if it's the right diameter and fits the cylinder, it will shoot :D.

I like my 1940s JC Higgins 12 ga double barrel. #4 law enforcement shells.

Bedside. Cowboy load in the next up chamber for muzzle flash effect. 5 specials to follow for better aim/control. Revolvers are reliable. Pull trigger, go bang. Dont go off without finger on trigger. Judge illegal in California.

Ok, I'll be the guy to derail things. For home defense I wouldn't grab a pistol. I prefer a shoulder fired weapon when possible. I have a Berretta CX4 storm(chambered in 9mm). Light weight, incredibly fast target acquisition, decent capacity, ect. I like pistol caliber carbines for close quarters.

My pistols are for duels at gas pumps. My shotguns are for birds. My scary guns are for libs. My bow is to fill my freezer with deer and turkey....but I'll take a pistol caliber carbine to defend my home.

I agree, low velocity, high impact for home defense. Frangable rounds for not killing your neighbors.

But if **** goes down in the night, first thing I'm grabbing is a high capacity (freedom week mag) pistol.

I dont wanna be out front with a short "long gun".

Like my buddy's says. "What's the longest hallway in your house? That's the distance to sight your pistol in at."

Not me I prefer a shotgun, wont go threw to many walls and hit someone you don't want and hard to miss your target.

Truthfully the argument over stopping power is comical. I don't want to get hit with any round. It's what you can operate under stress(half asleep). For me instinctively... it's shoulder fired.

I own damn near every caliber of "assault rifle" made. I have no interest in lighting up a house with 300 blackout, 7.62x54, or you name it. I don't have neighbor concerns, but I have no interest in blown out ear drums, ect. A shoulder fired 9mm is fine with me. It's almost cute to handle, but I sure as **** wouldn't want to get hit with it.

I agree. My buddy has a 22 cal semi auto pocket pistol. 15 rounds.

He says, "folks compare it to getting stabbed, would you want to get stabbed 15 times?"

I shot a glock 22...i think it was a 22. In 40sw. I loved it. Slick.

My range toy (canada) is a ruger p85 in 9mm. Cheap, built like a tank and accurate.

And....a 9mm chinese tokarev. Merely a fun relic...

.410 box of shells! Has anyone noticed the price of them!!!! Guy said cause of that .410 shooting pistol! Maybe so.
Old double barrel stage coach gun by the door, the 410, not many pellets but buckshot. Loaded .38 special revolver from Dad from Korea in nightstand. Hollowpoints. Then there is the single shot goosegun that HAD a long barrel and full choke. Cut it off legal decades ago, used to be behind seat of pickup. By the bed. Now mostly for squirrels, Ever see a squirrel chew up auto wiring!?? That sucker will bout brake my nose if I don't have a death grip on it!

Would take a lot of fight out of a guy, unless he`s on drugs !

There ya' go! I prefer single-ought buck myself. In the immortal words o' Samuel L. Jackson, "When you absolutely positively hafta kill every m---a f----a in the room right now". My buddy was ribbin' my wife, says "Whatta you got for home defense?" Sharon says: "Western Arms 16-gage double behind the closet door." Randy says "Aw you need to use a pump. Nothin scares a criminal in the dark like the sound o' that pump goin' Chuck-Chuck." Sharon says "Sound o' that first barrel goin' off oughta scare 'em pretty good."

"Aw you need to use a pump. Nothin scares a criminal in the dark like the sound o' that pump goin' Chuck-Chuck."
Yeah, because decimating your ammo supply AND giving away your position at the same time is always a good tactic
