How to clean gunk out of new build

-
A better description of the gunk, gritty, grey slime greasy
Black mud or tar like.
Some idea.
Sea foam engine flush.
I wonder if there is a filter available that is full flow. No bypass. I had a chevy small block that was chock full of grey sludge. Couldnt pour oil into it.
Radiator specialties engine flush, 1200 rpm for 30 minutes and dump and fill with 5w30.
I ran a heavy truck 2 quart size filter with no bypass and changed oil a week later.
Best running 350 i ever owned.

Yes, going to try the engine flush. It sat for 6 weeks then showed 55psi at idle so I'm thinking it's not that bad.

I don't understand what you mean by "gunk", either. Have you examined closely the oil drained from the pan? Have you tried inserting a "borescope" camera into pan thru the drain plug hole? Maybe someone left a shop towel in the engine before they buttoned it up. I've seen that happen, and heard of it happening on someone else's engine. I think I'd pour clean diesel into the top and drain it out the bottom. It's super cheap, a good solvent, and yet still a lubricant. That way you could readily see what "gunk" you really have. Like I suggested before, pull the filter and blow comprested air thru the filter adapter hole. You'll hear bubbles in the diesel in the sump. If any "gunk" is in the pickup, it should be dislodged. Drain again, examine again. Cut the filter open carefully, and closely examine the contents. If there is any metal particles in the filter, you may have significant damage.

You don't have time to do it, so you can go racing. But when it blows, then you'll have the time?

Audi a4 have a huge sludge issue i. The 1.8t. You could search for cleaning the sludge out of a 1.8t, but it is NOT the right way.

Ain't race cars fun???
LOL, this is what I was saying about a week ago....had a rear main seal leek on my new motor. Pulled it last Saturday, replaced the rear main seal, dropped the engine back in Monday morning, reattached stuff throughout the week after work, went racing Saturday....

The joys of race cars :p

UPDATE: Good news! I am officially an idiot! Well, you knew that already. It turns out I had the in and out oil lines reversed on the remote oil filter. Switched them and I now have 75psi at idle (1400rpm) and 85psi at 3500 which is all the higher I took it so far. Why so high? It's a racing motor with a HP oil pump. :BangHead::thumbsup:

Yay! Good thing you didn't have to flush the oil pan... I'd love to see a video of your car in action btw, you have a build thread or something?

Build was in 2013. I think there was a thread back then. No thread on the rebuild, but there will be something coming once I make it back to the track.
