I'm not sure if this belongs here but I recently installed a new water pump and since then, the power steering pump won't go far down enough to avoid the belt from contacting the other pulley. I'm not too knowledgable, just getting into restoration so If any of you have suggestions that would be amazing !

Hey Skrubski,

From the picture, it looks like the two spacers are missing from the two bolts going through the bracket into the water pump. This would bring the pump back out from the block and align the crank pulley with the power steering pulley. No belt contact then.

Thanks for the response! I actually took those two spacers out because the bracket seemed to be bending rather than bringing the pump forward more.
If it's nothing to worry about I'll put them back in ! Also I lasered the pulleys and without the spacers they're aligned

I have had so called high performance water pump shaft be too long. Threw the pulleys out of alignment. Do you have the old pump to compare to? Are the water pump, and crank pulley aligned properly? Put the p/s belt on, and take a picture, so we can see where the contact is.
