Tightwad!

I was at Classic a few weeks ago and priced out covers and foams for my ‘64 Valiant buckets. $514 for covers and $239 for foams. I also priced out the rear seat cover $339 (iirc). Sticker shock for sure!

I’ve looked at other more modern seats that I would have upholstered to mimic the originals. No matter how I slice and dice it, I’m looking at least 800 for the front seats alone! I’ve never had an interior done in a vehicle before and now I know why!
I feel your pain. We'll think of SOMETHING! :)

@PistolGrip member @sgrip65 has a complete front and rear set of white seat covers that came from a 66 for a very reasonable price. New foam and you’d be in business

Any seats other than stock are going to look silly. I just looked at a 68 barracuda with 70’s highbacks in it and it looked hideous.

Depends on the purpose of your build. If you're doing a real restoration then by all means spend the money for original. If you're building it to drive a lot and just not a occasional Cruise or car show there is nothing wrong with finding a nice comfortable set of modern seats. A lot depends on your perspective on what looks good.At one time I was considering front buckets and back out of a Satellite Sebring Convertible.

What are those seats out of ?

Sorry I'm not sure. Thought they were Neon seats but the swing down arm rests say different. Bought them from a Shop for $50 that does take outs of original's and replaces them with custom seats . At the time, like a fool, I didn't even ask, just liked the look. Might be out of a mid sized SUV or Pickup.

One guy's hideous is another guy's beautiful. I lean heavily to a mostly stock appearance, but I LOVE Cragar's , a 'tasteful' scoop...and 2 1/2" dual exhausts with the Flowmaster sound.

Looks nice...what are they out of? And if you don't mind, what did they cost?
One problem is my back seat is stock black vinyl. I'd really rather not have fabric in front & vinyl in the back.

Missed your post but answered in post 29.I covered my back seat with as close as I could find match in Fabric. My plan was to put in a different entire interior at some point.

there are upgrades and swaps that are always welcome to me, but seats are not one of them. I am a big fan of bench seats but in an original bucket seat car with a console, nothing looks as good as original. I would just take the original seats to a upholstery shop and have them custom padded and covered even if from pictures if nothing else.

I have driven more than a few miles to work daily over many years in old Mopars with the oem seats in somewhat sad condition.. Like said one mans treasure's another mans poop. Since I am old, I relate to what we had and/or we saw back in the 60's. Seats are easily changed out. I have had people price me a car with modern seats and I would have to respond, it was something for me to haul to the dump, did not care what he spent. Sometimes killed the deal for me or the seller.
Everyone always says, they will never sell that car!
The modern or aftermarket seats to me go with the restomod theme.
