What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Started in on replacing an exhaust stud. Let it drain and vacuumed out as much coolant as possible before I tap for an EZ-LOK.

Played around with some car wrap yesterday at work. I used some 3M chrome delete gloss black. Easier than painting the chrome, and totally reversible.

1406 Edelbrocks with the electric choke are my favorite carbs. Use them on performance built 318, stock 360 truck engines with the factory 340 cams, stock 67 383 10:1 compression 325 hp 4 bbl. They all run just great with the Edelbrocks on them. Easy to open up, clean out if you have dirty gas, and very easy to put kits in too. Simple low speed idle jets at the front base of the carb too.

Very, very, happy with them . . .

That’s great. My problem is the carb is a 2bbl carter that is just a huge pain in the a$$. I don’t want to spend the money on a 4bbl setup because I have 360 mag motor to replace the 273. But I need a new bell housing, clutch, flywheel, etc., etc, first. Just lacking the funds right now

Technically this was done on Memorial Day. My buddy Rob cutting, buffing & ceramic coating the Dart GT. Looks great now, but will undergo a complete wet sanding, cutting, buffing and ceramic coating in the fall.

Here is a Great Solution for peanuts in cost.

Had the same crappy running, gas leaking fire hazzard of a 2 bbl carb on my 69 318. Swapped it out to an Edlebrock 1406 using this 20.00 4 bbl adapter that you can get through AdvanceAutoParts, using the same stock 2 bbl intake manifold that came factory on the car.

You will see here that the 4 mount holes to your 2 barrel manifold have been machined down with a tool on your drill press. This gives enough clearance so the carb butterflies don't hit the mounting bolt heads. You can mount the 4 bbl carb directly to this without a spacer plate.

'69 318 stock 2 bbl intake manifold with Mr. Gasket 4 bbl adapter.
Easy 25 horse power upgrade, runs so nice, starts great with electric choke, and you have the secondaries to play with for more performance.
Makes a whole new car out of it, and don't have to change the intake manifold or camshaft.
It really Pulls, I am very impressed . . . 273s are Great Engines too, It gives the engine the fuel that it needs !

MoparBracket.jpg

You will need this Edelbrock Mopar Bracket # 1481 to hook up your throttle cable to the carb in the correct geometry. It puts things in place if you have the automatic kickdown also.
Just add the Carb and you are good to go.

Enjoy, happy sailing . . .

haven't driven it in 5 years.. was blocked in by 20 cars i had to sell first..new brake master cyl today.. new tires and wheels tomorrow.. [vintage nos keystones and wide o oval radials] .. hooking up reverse lights and installing the console light harness... will be replacing pinion seal friday.. 742 housing luckily.. trans dipstick o-ring at the same time.. fuel sender started leaking after i carefully replaced the cracked hose.... of course.. so once tank is ran dry i will install the nos sender and clean out the tank if its dirty.... huge projects!

I did this one....(YonHan 36W Quick Charge 3.0 Dual USB Car Charger Socket https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LBLYTST/?tag=joeychgo-20)

however.. I screwed up because the cig lighter is constant 12v hot so the LED is on all the time. I thought it was hot with key on only...whoops.

I ordered this one tonight: (USMEI Dual QC3.0 USB Charger https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QZZP2PT/?tag=joeychgo-20) it has no LEDs so no battery draw when not in use. There is also a switched one that you can turn on or off but you lose one of the USB slots for the rocker switch.

Keep in mind that it isnt a perfect fit in the hole.. I had to open the hole an eighth of an inch.. so if you plan on returning to factory cig lighter, this won't work.

Swapped in a Chinese aluminum radiator, swapped pulleys, installed an alternator, and got the timing better on the Monaco. Good enough to get to the shop tomorrow and let the mechanic dial it in. Bringing spare carburetor to swap if need be. Gotta love spare parts! New tires and off to the show in Stillwater.

Yeah, it's all kinds of wrong under the hood.

Worked on the D100-440 project today. Got the engine wired and the Lokar kickdown in. I have a cable pedal assembly from a 68 New Yorker but, the angle is wrong for the floor board and firewall. I just reused the 64 throttle rod and pedal arm. The actual pedal from the NY will work. Tomorrow is NSS, new starter relay and PS connections. Maybe fluids and varoom.....Then exhaust next week.
