I will be running a cast crank and rods but I think the failures start in the block most times

The weak link are the head gaskets....... There’s simply not enough head bolts on a SB for clamping force......
I wouldn’t run billet main caps, it’s not like you’ll see cap walk unless you’re running excessive RPMs, which is rarely done on a 671 blown application.
