Just finished balancing the motor - and bolted down the schumacher motor mounts ( doing a 273 to a 360 swap), first to the engine block. And than bolted to the k frame

Torqued to spec (75 pounds) 1st to 50 pounds each side and than to 75 pounds.

When done, the rubber looks a little twisted - especially the driver side. Schumacher support side it "should be fine". I wanted to see if anyone has experienced this. If I did something wrong and steps to correct. It is easier to do now - since the motor isn't all the way assembled thanks

looks like they need to be clocked 90 degrees

If it were mine, I'd move the engine 1/8 to the drivers side and see what it looks like...that is the first one to let go, so I'd want it to be good

Yeah, I double-double checked the the mounts were installed correctly. And of course checked again, the instructions clearly state the mount with the 1 3/8s access hole goes on the passenger side

There are no obstructions - the oil pan clears and can't see anything else (disti, etc hasn't been installed) and only headers have been installed but not connected to the exhaust yet

I am debating two approaches, there is a chance the insulator to bracket bolts were not tighten enough. 1st I can loosen the insulator to k frame bolt (which returns the insulator to correct position) and than check insulator to bracket bolt, make sure it is at 75 pounds. Then retighten to k frame - more incrementally than before

If that doesn't work = redo everything - but this time leave the bracket to motor bolts until last (there is some design play in them)

If I read the Schumacher instructions right, they want you to leave everything finger tight, adjust everything and then tighten after all adjustments.
I have a set of these but haven't gotten there yet.

I thought I did that. But. . .

I did get a chance to check the insulator to bracket bolts. The passenger side was loose. Tighten that bugger down. I will loosen bracket to engine and insulator to k frame bolt and move it a bit with the hoist.

I hope you don't mind but I'm going to try to learn from you. Thank you, from an old dog ;)

I can't tell you which way is right. but before i installed them, i had to chain my motor down to keep thing together.
Them mounts are the only way to go if you have a heavy right foot!:steering::lol:

Those are not the Shumacher Poly-Loc mounts. He has the Shumacher adapters from 273 to 360 brackets and regular rubber motor mounts. The Poly-Locs look like this, and yes, they are worth it.

Yep , I wouldn't expect those biscuits of the OPs to last long. I turned my stockers into solids.

The only problem with that.....on a street car....Is Vibration from the engine throughout the body.
Not a problem for me. I've run solid mounts on street cars since the 80s. Daily driver stuff. Seems like only a little more vibration than stock to me, but everyone has different levels of tolerance.

do you run 3 solid mounts? I had a friend who ran 1 solid mount on the driver side only thinking it would act as a torque strap, all it did was crack the block at the mount ears!
