i tinkered with the bronco some and finally got it running good enough to sell it
so i pulled up craigslist to post a for sale add and notice THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME 5 DOLLARS to post there!

have they met the tirekicking potlicking methsnicking idiots that i have to deal with when i post there?

they should pay ME

needless to say, i wont be listing it there for sale

nope, best i can tell is the ONE category i want to post in

CL sucks I look for parts and all the corner lot car used companies are posting 20 pages of kias in a parts for sale search for Barracuda parts.

There now has been NUMEROUS postings on the internet web sites about Craigslist now charging 5 dollars to post a vehicle for sale on their forum.
Not to bust your balls or anything, not nit picking anybody, but is a measly 5 bucks going to break anybody's piggy bank, or deplete your bank account paying the piddly *** amount?
Try and place an ad in your local newspaper, if you still have one, and see what a classified ad is gonna cost you.
And then nobody seems to be reading newspapers anymore, in this day and age.
EDIT!
Then place it on ebay and pay their fee for a for sale ad.
You not going to be getting anything for FREE anymore, anywhere, so get used to it.
Then charge your buyer an extra 5 bucks, when the vehicle sells, if that would make you happy, as the seller.

i wouldnt mind paying 5 bucks IF it was to the right audience
but have you met 90% of the people who buy, sorry, waste your time, on craigslist?
THAT is the issue, not the 5 bucks, but who it brings to my door

Sometimes I have discouraged sellers that pressure me by offering a better deal/discount by explaining how i enjoy paying more. It usually throws 'em for a loop and they quit bothering me (in some cases that "crazy" statement actually is true). Like was mentioned above, nothing free anymore, Dad said it has always been that way.

Ok, then tell ME and anyone else where you gonna list that vehicle for sale, without you paying for the ad.
Your going to get the same dip *****, look-e-loo's, crack pots, from ads on the internet, or your newspaper
Then list it on the A, B, E, body sites, and see what happens.

I just Don't get your complaint.
If you placed your ad on Craigslist before they started their fee, you would still get the bull shitters, if the ad was free, or now the same thing by paying for the ad.
So what would the difference be?

Wow I guess so. Maybe that will stop the same posting and some of the scammers. I don’t think it’s such a bad idea. We’ll see how it goes. Read the FAQ

A. $5.

Q. How long do paid automotive listings last?

A. 30 days.

Q. What about reposts and renewing / renewals of existing ads?

A. Reposts cost the same as a new ad ($5). The renewal feature is not available in paid categories. To move an existing ad to the top of the listings, use the repost option (see repost)

Q. What forms of payment are accepted?

A. VISA, Mastercard, American Express.

Q. How do I pay for a posting?

A. You will be prompted for payment at the end of the posting process.

Q. Are paid ads subject to automated deletion due to user flagging?

I agree I think it will cutdown significantly the multiple dealer adds

I'm sure Craigslist is gonna catch on Sooner than later, about people listing vehicles for sale, in their other forums, and then delete them or get money from the poster.
Give them time for their software to catch up with the new change.
I'm sure it will happen, with the computer software that they have these days.

Years ago I told the Wife we are going to charge $50 just to accept an employment application for consideration, with ZERO promise of ever being chosen.
I'm not wasting my valuable time interviewing a bunch of losers.

I wonder what people wanting to look at a vehicle would think of that?:D

I advertise car parts on the local Sacramento Craigslist, and i try and find buyers on that format, to sell things, so yes, i have, met, delt with, all kinds of people from Craigslist ads.
So in my case i would rate my dealings 75% in my favor, the other 25% should have stayed away.
I now have changed the way that i want to do business with perspective "buyers" that say they want the part, can't live without the part, need the part.
To weed out all the "shoppers" i request a small deposit, on whatever they're interested in, paid into my Pay Pal account, and when you come over to my residence, to pick it up, you pay me the CASH balance.
I'm no longer going to hold onto anything, anymore, unless i get a deposit, to weed out all those shoppers.
Then when we both agree on a date and time for pick up, i tell them that your going to phone me that your on the way, then, at that time, i tell them how to get here, wither it's by GPS, verbal instruction, or heaven forbid, a local map. And I'm very easy to find, street wise, right off the highway exit ramp.
And I'm not going to wait around for anyone, if you don't show up, give or take a bit, around the agreed upon time.
All that now seems to be working out in my favor, but i guess you again never know with Craigslist.
My .02 cents worth on the subject.

I suspect that this is to either;

discourage auto dealerships from abusing the service,
force sellers to have some skin in the game and write comprehensible ads (to write less like @jpar:poke: and more like @AJ/FormS)
Punish Mopar drivers who buy Ford snowplows

I remember when you didn't get that Plymouth Trailduster. I REMEMBER MAN!

I like that idea about making them do a deposit. F those tirekicking pricks.
When I've bought stuff, I've always called when I left the house. It's no fun to drive all the way down to San Jose and then miss the guy.

It was a good run while it lasted. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. It will cut down on the scammers and the dealers who post the same crap day after day.
But honestly, $5 is a lot cheaper than the old printed ads.
Facebook Market Place is going to explode with the crap, until they start charging.

i have a friend that's now advertising a $31,000 dollar car on Craigslist, in the Parts for sale section, instead of the cars and trucks for sale section, as he doesn't want to pay Craigslist 5 bucks to list the ad.
C'mon now, it's like complaining others are doing about paying Pay Pal the 3% fee for doing business by Goods & Services, or people getting scammed by sending Friends of Family.
5 bucks is dirt cheap to list a vehicle for sale.

Car dealers already pay. They have business accounts.

I have rental property & similar to what was said above, I charge a $50 application fee for a credit check that I refund only if they actually rent the place. Runs off the scammers & morons right off the bat.

That's a good idea.
Guess it's working out for you then, with that business practice.

Might actually bring down some of the prices. People might be less likely to put up those High "fishing" price ads when they know they have to pay money now.
