Shop vac water question

i wonder if i could put a valve on there
*turn on the vacuum to start removing water
*open the valve as the tank is 2/3 s full

as long as the water drops out slower then it gets in, it might still work?

You could adapt it to a larger container, 55 gal drum for instance.

that might be my best bet
