Lost money on a transaction

-
I did a Facebook search using his name and didn't see anyone who might have been him.

Yep. Lost $45 to him also. Ordered parts, paid agreed amount via PayPal, and was told “they shipped”. That was three weeks or so ago. No contact on here on here or via email despite numerous attempts.

this is nuts, the guy seems to ripping people off all over this board. (probably still is udner a new ID)
Somebody that got scammed, please PM me any & all of his info that he provided to you or that you can gain from paypal, emails, etc.
Ill see what I can put together.

A tracking number that is never scanned doesn't mean squat.

If you put up a wanted ad... be vigilant! You are a sucker with a bullseye on you before you ever knew it!

Most won't like this... Don't be poor.... Pay the fricken 3% on your paypal deal and know you have some level of protection. If a seller EVER balks at that, then you know what is about to happen or what you avoided.

Simple... Protect yourself because nobody else will!

Not true on the shipping tracking# comment above.
A seller can generate a shipping label online. This provides an instant tracking # and will show "pending pickup or acceptance". The seller simply never prints the label or ships the item, and at some later date, files for a shipping refund with USPS (or other carrier) carrier will then refund the lable cost, if the tracking shows no activity/movement.
*Ive said it before in the rim blow thread, everyone that was scammed by this clown, and there are several on this ONE forum alone, needs to file a report with his local PD and the state attorney generals office...only thru a volume complaints, will anything be done about it at the law enforcement level.

Been out of the USPS for over a decade already. Not sure if this has changed but....and I may be wrong entirely...if the person that ripped you off lived in another state the USPS Inspection Service maybe able to get involved....believe it had something to do with Mail Fraud.

Yup. If the person has a Stamps.com account or whatever the hell it is called they can generate a tracking number...and then forget about it. Keep in mind that the USPS tracking system, when we were still at the USPS, was damn near worthless. It's real purpose is to track the USPS employees themselves, in particular the carrier. The management clowns at the USPS realized that they could use it for tracking packages as a secondary function. The carrier has (had) to scan several different spots on their routes daily to show where they were at any given point during the day. This is how management was able to keep adding to the carriers routes, eventually doing away with some individual routes...which in turn led to a reduction in carriers...

I'm pretty sure you can't get a tracking # until you actually ship something. I won't ship a part till it's paid for. If the condition of the part is questionable I send the buyer more detailed pics and or description before he pays. I try to be as honest as possible . One member was wanting a rusted fender I had listed for $50, He was up in NY ( IIRC) Was over $200 bucks to ship it. after a week or so I think I convinced him he could probably find one local cheaper and in better shape. I sell stuff I don't need to fund my projects and help others keep theirs moving along. Not to scam people. I give some stuff away free, Once you scrap these parts they are gone forever.
Yea I had a similar experience not long ago. I have a new dodge ram grille for sale for 50 bucks a guy wanted it but it was gonna cost me 87 bucks to ship it to him which is just ridiculous imo. It is only a 5lb package but its very large but it was going all the way to the west coast. Ups FedEx and USPS was all over 80 bucks just because of the size it. I think it should go off weight not size. How can you ship a 70 lbs flat rate box for 12 bucks to California but a 5lb box cost 87 bucks what's the damn difference??

Mailed a check on Jan 10th, 2019 from here (La Paz, Mexico) and it arrived at the USA address in May 2019 (Valley Springs, California).

At least it was not lost/stolen. But heck, it only takes 3 days to fly to the moon!

Gents, I believe this is the man you'd like to speak with, Mr Daniel C Bruley Jr, commonly goes by Danny Bruley.
Multiple felonies, gun charges, etc, in and out of jail, lives in a trailer on Mom and Dad's property.
Dad is clearly a car guy as evident in the satellite imagery, and I assume it's where this fine citizen got the idea to fleece people for parts online..

EDIT* Appears he is on FBBO and FCBO as well, selling his parts..

You said you paid with PayPal. How did you do it, Friends and Family or Gift? If you did, you are screwed. PayPal will not intervene. Are you talking about the small plastic piece that screws into the bottom of the dash and covers the bottom of the steering wheel column?
Yes the plastic cover beneath the column.

You know, a LOT of this stuff would be stopped if buyers would simply stop trying to save a few pennies on Paypal fees and just pay for it via goods and services. Then, when this happens, and Paypal gets enough complaints, they can and will lock the seller's account(s) and maybe even press charges.

Wow what a pos! It amazes me that people get so evil! What happens between childhood and adolescence that make some people so damn rotten inside?? I see it everywhere. I meet new people at work and can instantly get a bad vibe from them this dude is not good. Most of the time I'm right. I just dont understand how people turn bad.

It happens when their brain twists and they realize that they get reward from scamming and nearly no punishment...at least initially.

After that, it becomes like an addiction. The scam brings rewards that cause endorphins to be released to the brain and satisfy the pleasure and reward centers. Any failures or punishments are then just seen as temporary set backs.

It really isn’t very different than gambling addicts.

I get the addiction part but what part of the brain shuts off morals? Is it something that you are taught or something you are born with? I have/had a really good friend he was genuinely a good person but as he got older he got more and more rotten. It started small and eventually lead to bigger more serious stuff. I agree with you about the no punishment part but I have seen people who do get punished keep making the same mistakes over and over. It's just a lack of empathy. I don't understand why that differs from person to person.

The size of the package, real estate in a freight truck is valuable, the weight don't mean crap when shipping small packages.
And if you were shipping a plastic grill, you better make a wooden crate, or it will end up broke.
Here is an example of a light weight, but sturdy box I built to ship a rebuilt trans to CA.
Truck freight was almost $200 but the buyer was happy.
When it shipped, the buyer got a tracking number, and I checked it every day, it arrived fine.

AMEN. WHEN WILL PEOPLE STOP SENDING MONEY VIA FRINDS AND FAMILY OR GIFT?????

What about sending postal money order, isn’t it a felony in the USA when you go bad Ina deal with a postal money order?

Caveat, I’m a Canadian and don’t know.

Also Laysons made a comment on shipping and everything going via San Fran. I can vouch for that. I’m in western Canada and like a ten hour drive from Layson’s and if I ordered from them it goes south to San Fran, clears customs, then east all the way to Toronto, then west back to Alberta or bc. It’s dumb. And can, and usually does, take longer than usps and Canada post’s published delivery times.

When they realize their OWN reputation is worth more then 3%

I get a kick out of the title of this thread.
I` ve lost $ on about every transaction I `ve made !

Oh yeah! On FBBO I see the same parts bumped for a year with no responses or questions or replies. Think maybe that part isn't made of gold after all?

There is a lot of over priced stuff on here too. An example is an elec. part for an A body, a member on here was advertising for $156 , plus shipping. I bought the same brand "American made " for $56 w/ shipping .
I have given too much for a few items on here too. Will have to lose $ on them to clear the garage------------which I need to do !
