Have a new top I'm getting ready to install, cut passenger side off and found this. Everything else seems fine.
Should I just wire wheel it, throw some por15 and call it good?

I had the same issue on a 65 Coronet Convertible. I took the time to cut out the bad and weld, grind and finish a patch. Yes, the top replacement took longer than I expected but I wanted to do the repair right.

Drivers side is not as bad, any other model use the same front bow? Maybe I'll get lucky at spring fling

Check your seal and the wing pieces if your header bow is rusted.,

I'm fixing mine now.I'll replace the header seal middle part with a vacuum formed ABS piece as soon as I get the mold made to make a sturdy one . this is what I'm starting with so it's going to be a challenge.

already made my template of the wings that fit on the end of the center piece.

fit is pretty good and all I have to do is finish it so it screws on correctly.

I've got the header off, going to wire wheel it all to see what I have left.

Few rust spots on the seal retainer, not too bad, header wings look good, just the top corners, maybe more after I wire it

There is a complete top for sale on craigslist in Washington, $500, but the header seal is still attached and looks very rusty.

Got everything fixed and painted, modified my transmission bracket for dual exhaust.

i have a complete frame also in seattle for parts... don't think its rust at all..will dig it out soon

No way would I let that slide. Cut bad metal out, weld new in. And I'm cheap as heck.
