Owners says it will run but hasn't been started in a few years. No title but from what I have researched people use them on the highways.....

Anyone currently own one or knows anything about them?

TIA,
JW

We had two in the late 80’s at work. Used them for transporting supplies & crews around a 250 acre site. Did their job but were severely underpowered. Ours were never taken on public roadways.

I have seen "trucks "like these all over the Caribbean. Should be easy to get parts for . Pretty cool for a work around the farm vehicle. Probably better than a high end side x side..
Being a Mitsubishi is it a diesel?
I don't know if I would get on the interstate . Lol

It's gas. The bed raises and tilts. Interesting little truck and should be fun to get running again. From what I read they use them in small cities for tight spaces but it clearly says off-road use only on it. However, that's just a heat gun and a little patience to fix that...

I believe if you read the tires carefully, you'll find the main reason for the "offroad use only" decal.

A old customer of mine would buy a shipping container full at a time. Yes, great utility vehicles for around the farm. The transmissions were locked out of 3rd and 4th to keep the speed down. They would do 50!

I know in Ohio they're not road legal.
A buddy of mine bought one, and tried to register it. Found out that it was for farm use only, so he put a slow moving triangle on the back of it and drove it anyway.
He got away with it for awhile. Until he didn't. If you know Keith, you know arguing is sport to him. Unfortunately the state trooper wasn't in the mood and in the end Keith and the Mits Ute were both hauled off.
It's a big hoot to tease him about it. But Keith really liked that little truck.

My navy buddy drove one on the street in Yokosuka, Japan. Said if you hit the brakes hard enough with no cargo, you could lift the rear wheels. Those tires don't look DOT.

There are communities in FL that run golf carts on the street,,many but not all have turn signals, head lights, horn,, never seen one with seat belts. They get no hassles on roads with speed limits of less than 35 mph.

There is a few running around up here. I’ve safetied a few. All are right hand drive from Japan. Their glass is not DOT approved. 1 problem with them is getting the wheel alignment to pass as there made to drive on the opposite side of the road. Kim

The city of Gray also allows conservative use of golf carts and such around town.

This one is left hand drive which must be rare..... Will post some more photos this evening of it. Looks like a small commercial truck on the inside. IMO it's easily something that can be driven on the road within reason.

They are not legal for road use in Texas. I looked at some of them when I was in Florida in 2004, until I found out they couldn't be licensed in Texas.

I used to work at a golf course that used them for beverage carts.

Some are highway legal, some are not.

If it has no title, that suggests either it is not legal for road use, or the title was lost and will be fun getting another (if it;s not stolen)

I would get a title and VIN plate off a totaled Peterbuilt. Mount the VIN plate, a set of full size chrome stacks, maybe a miniature fifth wheel in the back.
If you ever get pulled over tell the officer it got stuck in a truck wash and shrunk

Thanks for the replys everyone. It fired right up and they Hydraulics work on. Gas is stale and the Alternator belt is loose so I left it alone. It's at work so I work on it when I can..... It is a really neat machine.

They are neat. Cab over with dump feature is awesome. My gf from thailand said they are everywhere there still. Parts are readily available including cool turbo upgrades.
Enjoy her.

Heres what I would do with it.

Portal axles.
Chevy leaf springs or coil overs.
Marlincrawler Transfer case.
Turbo.
37" Irock tires.
Bend some 1 1/4 steel tube over the bed and toss green canvas over it.
Spray bomb the entire thing olive drab and paint a white star on the doors....

DONE!

It’s a Mitsubishi...he needs to paint a rising sun meatball on the side!

I thought the whole object was not getting pulled over?

I would also make a wood buck board for a tail gate but if you want to get pulled over replace the Mitsubishi with "I voted for Hillary"

Make it look like a cool old army truck and slide under the radar....

:)
