I really need to figure out what the issue is. I would like to have a smaller radiator to save some weight up front but not at the expense of reduced cooling . This unit is huge.
What thermostat are you running with your flowkooler waterpump? I ran a "high flow 180" with my flowkooler and aluminum radiator and I had issue with it getting hot too. Switched out to a Milodon 160* balanced flow high flow thermostat and it's been running perfect since. Even an hour of idling it never went over 160 at the thermostat housing and 136 on the upper hose. Evidently if you don't have a balanced flow thermostat with these flowkoolers they pump so much coolant it actually prevents the thermostat from opening like it should. Worth a shot if you don't have one of those balanced flow thermostats. I think they were like 27 bucks.
