What late model accessories do you wish your old car had?

-
Real leather
A/C
E
Power windows
Power sunroof
Pass side mirror, both power.
Air bags
Rear disc
5 spd
Cruise control
Fold down back seat, back seat that's more laid back and comfortable.
Wife wants a lit mirror visor on pass side.

Power Steering -- Check

Disc Brakes -- Check

Air Conditioning -- Check

Good Tunes -- Check

I'd love more comfortable seats, cruise control & an auto overdrive trans...

Well they're not exactly accessories, or modern, but the intermittant wipers would be convenient.
I think that's about the only one if given to me would do in a heartbeat.
Maybe also a turn signal switch with lane change positions is convenient - car had one in it but it died.
Finally FM radio would be nice sometimes, but not enough for me to do anything about it.
To be fair, some of the items you've mentioned I've done:
Front disk brakes - factory option
Seat latches (not an option in 67 AFAIK) So modernized to 1970
Headrests. Done.
H4 Headlights & relayed power.

Oh there was one other thing. Cloth seat centers. :)

Cup holder.... it's something we build into most of the cars we work on. Although it's so dam hot in the race car that I dont mind holding a cold bottle of water between my legs...

And a phone charger...

I've toyed with the idea of adding dynamat but I've gone through so much trouble to cut weight out of the car I just can't do it....

Turn signals and headlights maybe......

I have a cigarette lighter voltmeter with 2 usb ports which works good. I have some order info for a seat top console/ armrest with cupholders. I do miss my center armrest.

Ok as much as I dont like to admit it I do smoke cigars, so a cig lighter may be nice but I dont think that counts as my new Subaru dont have one or an ash tray.

My dart has a hand made dash so no lighter and when I built the harness I never put in the wire for one....

I do think I'll add headlights at some point. They are wired up but the wiring stops at the relay.....

Traction control.

Absolutely

Today’s motor builds with improved heads, stroker cranks, modern cam design, etc are making big HP and TQ.

Most cars have more motor than their chassis can handle.

Modern cars use the heck out of traction control.

Im almost done building my 73 swinger, 72 clone. Im adding all the things I want from the start. Here is a list.
*Remote start
*Fuel Injection
*Power windows
*Power door locks
*Power trunk release
*bluetooth stereo
*Keyless entry keypad

Younger, No maintenance, less cranky passenger seat partner.
Happy Mopar:)

Surprised no one has mentioned a modern feeling chassis. That and a modern transmissions are a huge part of how a new car feels (in my opinion).

After those, brakes, steering, cruise, AC, in that order.

Someplace in there is EFI.

Modern seats that support you and keep you located are a must.

Power windows would be pretty nice, if only so I don't have to reach over and roll the passenger window down at 65 mph when the temp drops and I don't want the wind anymore. Or if I want to talk to someone on the passenger side of the car.

Like to have power locks so I don't have to check both doors when I walk away, but not that big of a deal.

Lastly would be a radio of some type with an iPod hookup or that can read an SD card. Love to have a car I can take on a long road trip and always nice to cruise with some tunes. I don't want XM radio or have to depend on getting radio stations along the way.

ABS/traction control would be cool, but can't see that being something I would ever get to work like I would want.

Most everything mentioned I've added. I don't want traction control or ABS. I've done the modern AC, stereo, suspension, EFI, modern transmission. Modern seats with sound deadening through out.

I didn't do power windows or locks, but maybe one day as they are easy add ons.

The problem with modern stuff is that they break down more often than the mechanical old stuff.

i installed a hurst problematic 2 in my duster, and build in a cupholder and USB ports in the cover

I'm working on suspension, tires, brakes they aren't too bad in their current state. EFI would be nice only because the ambient air changes so much in my area, as well as elevation. Already have a decent sound system.

What I really want is cruise control, cupholders, and INSULATION... wind noise and exhaust cruising at 80 MPH in an old A-body is pretty draining. A/C would be nice but those factory "crotch vents" get the job done as long as I'm not stuck in slow traffic lol.

Oh yeah and overdrive so I can swap in 3.55 gears and still cruise at 80.

ABS for the rear wheels only because those self-energizing drums like to lock up if you mash the pedal too quickly. I really don't like driving cars with ABS on slippery roads, it feels like it barely works and I always end up threshold-braking anyway especially if the front wheels are losing traction going into a turn.

If I wanted all that stuff I'd just buy one of these. Oh wait, I did.

Dashboard message display with Miles Per Gallon

YES I totally forgot that one, I've thought about it a few times... really all you need is a flow meter for the fuel line and MPG can be calculated from that and the odometer. Average of course, instant you'd have to get a feel for what the gauge is saying.

I don't always feel like emptying my gas tank and then filling it up completely just to get an accurate average MPG calculation, it's also impossible for me to drive an entire tank without getting into the secondaries I can't help myself. That would just be a waste lol, after all my Duster is my "fun" car.

Easiest way to keep up with fuel mileage is to download an app like Fuel Manager and simply log the mileage and gallons every time you fill up and it will tell you your mpg for that tank, as well as a running average mpg of every time you filled up.

If you want to just figure it up by hand once, there’s no need to empty your tank. Simply fill up your tank and wrote down your odometer mileage. The next time you fill up, decide the gallons by however many miles you drove on that tank of gas, whether you used 1/4 tank or 7/8 tank doesn’t really matter.
