I have started to thin out my stash and am thinking about selling a 1972 dated 340 engine. This was rebuilt in the 90s and not used for too long before the car it was in was parked when the owner got a new Dodge Stratus. I've had it on a stand since 2013. It is an externally balanced engine but is complete except for the carburetor and exhaust manifolds. I'd include an LD340 intake and I have a forged 273 crank that could be used to make it an internally balanced engine if someone wanted it. I know what I'd like to get for it but do not know what the market is for a used 340. I heard it run but did not drive the car. What kind of price is right for an engine like this?
I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow.

Man, those prices are all over the place, and with an engine that hasn't ran in half a decade...most of us would consider it a core

The engine was bored .030 over.
Even as a core, they are not making any more of them. They seem to be more desireable than a 360. I have seen some crazy prices from some guys, as if these are the LA version of a 426 Hemi.
I just want a fair price for it.

$500 J heads I presume. Most 340 blocks if not used to restore a car, end up a stroker. The block is all that's used.

If not an engine in a running driving car with all the info as to work/parts, I bet most people consider it a core. My uneducated guess is $500-700
