Looking at this harness, (HU203A-Engine forward), it's listed as for a '71 non electronic ignition.

Anyone have a feel for the difference between it and something for my '65 Dart?

They are having a one day sale and the price would be pretty good.

Major differences off the top of my head:
'65 firewall connectors are very different
'71 uses a ground controlling voltage regulator so its connector is different.
I'm sure there is more.

Thanks, reason I ask is simple, the harness for the '71 is about $150 and the correct harness is $700 and effing 12 dollars? Really?

Geez! Prices keep going up!
If you have the time and patience, consider repairing and rebuilding your original. You can by good tools, wires and terminals for less than that and everything will be correct. Wiring work isn't as bad as you may think if your relatively handy.

Take your harness off. Place it on a plywood board. Mark the board and take photos for reference.
Go to a local marine supply to buy some good quality wire by the foot for whatever needs replacing.
For hard to get colors, or to be more correct, you can buy from a place like RI Wiring.

Get a good crimper or crimpers for open barrel "packard type" terminals.
Get a terminal removal tool or tools.
Reuse the original connectors and buy the matching terminals for the wire size.
Replace only what is bad.
You may be able to reuse the harness wrap or may have to replace some or all.
Detroit Muscle makes and sells the foam seals for inside the firewall connectors.

Sources for Chrysler type wire terminals

Inline wiring splice clips........from the Dodge RAM service manual

Ok so I was given the wrong part # the first time I called and the second time we got it right. HU352A Engine forward and light harness including bulkhead connector and it's less than half of the quoted price for the other harness which was the under dash piece. I pulled my cluster and everything under there looks far and away in better condition than the engine side harness. 25% off today it is! Happy guy right now.

You can rent them for $25 each, 50 a pair, 30 days use.
Crimping Tools - for purchase or rent | American Autowire

and or buy any number of cheaper ones.
The astro pneumatic with interchangable jaws is what I first bought.
It's pretty good, makes both crimps at once, but is too wide for male terminals. Some folks have ground a pair of jaws down slightly (on the sides) so they can use them with those terminals.
