Hey guys .here is my situation
1973 Dodge Dart Swinger Slant six K member ...
I bought the car from the previous owner as a rolling chassis
I'm tearing this down to renew the suspension and found this gap between the steering box and the mounting hole I was wondering if it is supposed to be there or did the guy before me do something weird??

Might be bent...and why he sold it.
Measure the 4 holes criss cross and front to back and see what's going on.
I dont recall having a gap like that.
When a car spins out 180 and clips a street corner ....that can happen, trust me.lol

Spin-outs; yeah man, cool but dangerous.
So that box should sit in the saddle with all 3 bolts touching the mounting bracket and all three bolt holes lined up, and with no rocking. Since it is highly unlikely that the box would survive a twist without breaking, I'm with MoparOfficial, something is bent or tweaked or cracked, etc

Yeah, you should be flush at all three spots. I agree, measure the K and see if its square. If its bent you would be better off finding another.

So i measured 4 holes all dimension arr equal.. but I find a lot of questionable welds on this thing especially where that third Bolt is supposed to line-up

Then again I don't know dick about how s*** was put together back in the 70s.. I think with a little bit of metal and my Mig I should be able to straighten this steering box situation out really trying to avoid buying a qa1 member
