'69 Dart Turn Signal Switch Replacement Part 1 of 2
Do recently I have developed an issue with my turn signals. The rears work fine but the fronts do not. I did do a lot of wiring rerouting to hide a lot of the engine compartment wiring. Must of it was run through the frame rail. The issue is when turning right, the rear signal works but nothing in the front. When turning right, the rear works fine but BOTH fronts blink like the emergency flasher is on. All lights worked properly when we did the wiring but now we have this issue. The switch change did not fix this but I figured that because I didn't see a switch change thread on hear or the internet that I would do this.
Unplug the connector under the dash. This will disconnect any power going to the switch (saving you fuses).
Remove the center cap by twisting in a counterclockwise direction.
Here is where you find the horn switch. Note that the wire for the horn comes up through the center not the sides. Not paying attention to this caused my horn to blast off for about 2 minutes at 9:30 at night, my neighbors must love me. Also make sure you turn your wheels straight and note the spade connection from the horn is about at the 4 o'clock position. This with help you when you put it back together.
Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the horn switch.
Here I install my trusty steering wheel puller.
And using my equally trusty ratchet, I pull it off.
Remove the 3 Phillips head screws in the switch retaining plate.
Remove the screw going through the switch and into the turn signal lever. When you remove the lever note that there is a raised section on it that fits into the slot in the switch. This can sometimes be difficult to line up after then new switch is installed.
