I need to change the floor pan in my 72 valiant due to rust. Both the front and back had water pool under the carpet and suffered rust damage. Looking on Classic Industries and Summit they show floor pans for other A bodies and older valiants but none say compatible with a 72?

Will this floor pan from Summit work in my 72? If not does anyone know which one is correct for a 72? Thanks

It shows that it will work for a 72 plymouth scamp. But I would call them and double check before ordering.

Valiant pans are different in the rear portion. Darts or Scamps are based on a Dart body and has the footwells for the longer wheel base.
I have never parted out a 67 up Valiant, but I suspect a 67-72 or 73 Valiant pan would be the same. 74-76 Valiant 4 door sedans and
Valiant and Scamp ht's. are based on a Dart platform.

I did not know that. Thanks for setting me straight. You learn something knew every day:thankyou:

So the pans that are compatible with the the late 60's Valiants would work for my 4 door '72? Ive searched Auto metal direct and nothing shows compatible with a 1972 and I would prefer to replace the whole floor pan as rust has ate away the front and started on the rear.

Fist generation a-body, pre 1967, are different from 2nd gen'. All 2nd gen floor pans got a little longer and a little wider. More spacious was selling point of 2nd gen' a-body.
The difference in the bucket seat tracks suggest a good difference in pan depths also.
There is a thread here somewhere about homemade filler strip about 6 inches wide between the aftermarkets front and rear floor pan sections. I forget what car that was.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for replacement floor pan sections? Some of the ones on ebay look really cheap, I don't need the trans hump just the lowest points where the water pooled. Thanks

I also did contact Auto metal direct and they do not make anything that is compatable with a '72 valiant... Someone has to make a replacement.

It's like this:
All 67-76 108" wheelbase A bodies use the "Duster" floor.
67-69 Barracudas, 67-73 Valiants, 71-72 Demons, 70-76 Dusters, 73-76 Dart Sports. Doesn't matter if it's a 2 door or a 4 door. All the 108" wheelbase A bodies use the same floor ( yes there are some year to year differences, but they will all fit).
By the way, this is a one piece floor.

And all 111" wheelbase A bodies use the same floors.
67-76 Darts, 71-76 Scamps and 74-76 Valiants. 2 door or 4 door. If it's a 111" wheelbase, it uses the "Dart" floor.
This is a 3 piece floor

I think the compatibility that AMD states is for minor things like seatbelt mounts and seat mount which can always be altered. This clears things up and Im going to go with the pan that they have for sale that says its compatible with a 67-71 Valiant. Thanks for the Info!

Mightta been mine. See post #281. I had to make some filler panels about 6 or so inches wide. I had to do it though, because the rust extended further than the new floor pans were long.
