Looking for a set of valve covers for a small block. The ones that say "direct connection" on the tops. Chrome doesn't have to be good because I'm planning on painting them, that's why I'm looking for a used set first because that feels better than paying full price for a brand new set and then hitting them with sandpaper immediately. No dents, though. Thanks!

Found one set on ebay that need re chromed for $125.00

FYI, the photo that I posted is of the original "Direct Connection" valve covers.
I do like those... And I'm sure they're way higher quality than the modern MP ones that look to just be generic cheap chrome covers with direct connection stamped on them and the price doubled... Is $125 a good price for those? Aren't many out there to compare to.

There were made out of heavy stamped steel and were found on lots of cars when people wanted better valve covers. The ones with the name on them is thin steel that warps pretty easy...just like the blue anodized aluminum covers. If you notice there is a set of NOS covers listed below them that the person wants about a grand for. If it was me and I was going to paint them I would be all over them.

I'm curious about that vintage NOS set - I have those on my 340 but they have a baffle under the hole for the PCV and vent, wouldn't ones without vents pull oil splash from the rockers into the PCV?...

Thanks for the renewed interest in the New Old Stock Direct Connection Valve Covers.

I have had these around here for quite a few years, figured I would dust them off and have another look at them.

Got to look into the history of these some more. Thanks for your post.

Looks like the Direct Connection chrome valve covers I have above here are nothing special, but made with thicker steel and have the baffles. Can be bought new from the Hot Rod Suppliers.
