Not an A-Body but how much would the value be hurt if you had a real 1970 Charter RT 440 six-pak, 4 speed originally FC7 w/ white stripe and white bench seat interior and changed the color combo to lemon twist yellow with black stripe and interior? I guess I am to much of a purist and had to ask the owner at the car cruise if the car was supposed to be a purple car. I guess he didn't like the fact that I asked but I didn't say who's the dumbass that would change the color on such a rare car?. I asked and tried to talk a little about his car but his answers were short and he wanted nothing to do with my conversation.

Here is my $0.02. If you are thinking about resale even a LITTLE bit, don't do it. If you plan to keep the car for a long time, do it your way. And put in bucket seats while you are at it. If you do change it, keep everything in case the decision is ever made to go back. I don't think I've ever seen a yellow Charger.

Who cares?

It’s out of the garage and being driven.

Would some rich douchebag pay more money for it if it was purple? Probably. How does that effect you? It doesn’t.

Really? Never saw a yellow Charger? Here you go!

Back in HS I had a friend who bought a 70 Challenger.

It was in pretty good shape. 318 slap stick, and the kicker was factory plum crazy with a white interior and top.

He absolutely hated that color combo and even though the body was pretty nice, he paid pretty good money (for a high school kid) to have it painted blue, have a new black top put on, and to dye the interior black.

After he sold that, he bought a loaded 73 Duster. 318, buckets and console, AC, rallye wheels, etc...and again the kicker, it was lemon twist with a black and white interior.

You guessed it- he absolutely hated that color combo, and paid to have the interior changed to all black and to paint the car.....wait for it.....plum crazy!

Maybe HOW you asked? Some people ask questions out of genuine curiosity, some people ask with enough attitude as to inform the other that they already know the answer.
If he likes it that's what counts. Its paint, it can be removed & repainted. Its not like he sold the 440 & put in a 360 to get better gas mileage.

As long as the work getting done is great quality, the decision will only be felt when it gets sold.

I went through a car a few years putting every high end option on a base model and pro touring, the guy that bought it went through the work of putting it back to bone stock and boring. And he did a shitty job of it too...

So, what's a car worth as a base model with the paint all fucked up?

or sub-lime/limelight, sassy grass/go green with an f6 green interior

Some people hate FC7....its way over used too. I like it, but it seems like a popular color to paint any car....if it were factory I would leave it...I think it’s kinda cool when cars have the original color. Seems like half the 68-70 B-body cars that are red were originally green.

The last person I want to talk to is a purist telling me what's not right about my car. If I wanted to find out what color my wiper motor is supposed to be or other info about my car I would seek out the information, as most people would. Keep your unsolicited comments to your self unless your prompted for info.

Maybe why I never have ever taken a car to a show, and when I go to talk and look at cars, I never maybe any comment that is not flattering!
I agree a rare car is a better investment kept total original and stock BUT not everyone is concerned with that!

All good points....I do see a lot of cars changed to FC7....Thats the first one I've seen changed from FC7. On such an amazing and rare car I don't agree with the change but its not my car. To each his own.....I really shouldn't be talking anyways. My 340 Duster was originally F8 and was changed to Sublime before I got it. I am looking for a trust worthy and good bodywork and paint shop to change her back. Any CT members here have a shop they've used and like? Not looking for a Graveyard Cars type shop either.

Maybe flag them on this thread to grab their attention, because unless they click on this thread, they wont see your request. Use the @ in front of their screen name @gtgto for example.
I've heard good stuff about Boscos in Enfield, but have no direct experience.

Haha I didn't even notice it till you pointed it out! Now I cant stop looking! Haha rofl!
To answer the question... if I had the car you named and it was truly original and unmolested there is no way I could bring my self to painting it a different color.

Ya, I hear ya ! BUTT !!
My car was White, Yuck ! With red & white interior. White Top . Just Not for me !
Just not my colors, My car is a rare one as its BB,PS,PB,PW, AC, Plus convertible .
Not a whole lot of Value, but very rare in Hawaii, Its the Only one.
To me White made the car look big and funny, where Black made it look Shorter and more Styling ! To each their own I say.
Yellow, Not my color either but if it looks good to him, Kool
