77 440 crank journal sizes

So my 440 is at auto school getting a refresh. I didn't have time in the class to finish it so the work was continued by other students along with myself at the end of the day, this was my first mistake letting someone else touch it.

So i had up to piston 7 in the bottom end and then piston 8 literally wouldn't fit over the journal, the big end of rod 7 was too wide for 8 to fit over so the pistons must have been out of order.

Today the teacher tells me that they got piston 8 on the crank but the crank is now locked up, its just the bottom end at this point.

Is the length, not the diameter, different between the rod journals on stock 440 crank?
