Drive shaft

More than likely my current drive shaft is longer than it should be so it sounds like I just need to get it cut down to length, and then adapt the rear u joint to the new 8 3/4.

Assuming your drive shaft has the rubber insulator (one end of shaft is smaller dia than the other and fits inside one another, NOT with a slip like on some 4X4s) I personally would not cut it down. I would just order a new drive shaft from one of the online manufacturers. price is not going to be significantly more expensive and it will give you piece of mind.
