Also the ball end of the 2 cables are slightly different where the new one does not go into the pedal would it be okay to slightly enlarge the hole on the pedal to allow it to set in some or file off the piece on the cable

U got a big washer on the engine side of the firewall too? On our '66 Cuda the cable angles down as it goes thru, that would make it line up with the pedal.
I would not modify the pedal for the cable.
What if you need to go back to the Factory cable at some point?

If there is a washer on the other side of that bracket, its probably too big and is not allowing it to sit all the way in.

I did have a washer on the outside as where the cable runs thru the fire wall is only a spongey grommet and when the gas is pressed alowes the cable to move slightly
With out the washers tho it lines up perfect

Mine lined up perfect. Early A V8 pedal.

Lose the washers and trim away the bit of spongy gaskety stuff that interferes with the Lokar nuts.

I thought that too, but the hole on mine is a little smaller than the nuts. If you have to use washers trim down the OD so they fit in the dimpled part of the bracket.

Okay I’ll give it a go after supper and see what I can come up with thanks all for the help
